Following the recent mass murder in Nova Scotia by an active shooter, Prime Minister Trudeau  banned the sale, import and transport of 1500 “assault-style” firearms in Canada. There is much debate about whether this decision will result in less innocent people being killed in active shooter situations in Canada. Some have argued that the Prime Minister has over stepped his authority and has violated the rights of Canadian gun owners, despite not having a constitutional second amendment (Right to bear arms) in Canada as the United States has. Yet others believe there is little reason for anyone to own such a weapon and applaud the decision. Research this topic using critical thinking to gain a full understanding of the issue and provide information that reflects your position on this topic.  Your paper must be double-spaced, 12-point font, and a minimum 1,500 words.  This paper asks that you consider the structure as well as the content of the leadership texts we have covered thus far in the semester. It asks that you design a brief guide for leadership in an arena that is familiar to you. You will then provide a discussion of how and why you designed the guide as you did.      Think of a group or organization to which you belong. What constitutes, or would constitute, effective leadership in this arena? Consider how you would describe this to an individual interested in a leadership position in this group or organization. The paper will not discuss the relative positive or problematic aspects of an individual’s leadership style – you will not be discussing a particular person who inhabits the leadership role – rather the three main aspects of leadership that are crucial to leading the group or organization. Then you will discuss why these are the main aspects, referencing texts that we have covered in support. Assignment      The assignment is divided into two sections, each at least a full page in length. First, you will produce a brief “guide” for leadership in a group or organization to which you belong. Second, you will defend your choices based on best practices of leadership gleaned from the course readings. This second section is a critical exercise, in which you will need to support your decisions with clear evidence from the texts that we have covered.
