The Role of Fusion Centers in Counter terrorism Strategies

Instructions The Role of Fusion Centers in Counterterrorism Strategies For this assignment, write an essay that must be at least 500 words in length on how the role of fusion centers has changed in the United States from post-9/11 to today. Further, you will be required to discuss a terrorism plot that has been stopped by the efforts put forth by fusion centers. The last paragraph of your paper will summarize your finding about the current state of fusion centers and the public perception of them. As part of this assignment, you are required to read a short web page covering Section IX of the National Strategy for Information Sharing document, which was originally published by the Bush administration in 2007 (updated in 2012), and outlines the initial role of fusion centers in the United States. This will provide the historical context and background information for your essay. Review the updated National Strategy for Information Sharing and Safeguarding.  In 2010 at the National Fusion Center Conference, the fusion center directors, in partnership with the federal government, distilled the baseline capabilities for state and major urban area fusion centers into national network priorities and changed the focus of fusion centers to include four Critical Operational Capabilities (COCs) to include receive, analyze, disseminate, and gather. After reading the National Strategy for Information Sharing, respond to the following questions in your essay: What improvements do you recommend take place or be added to the role of fusion centers in the United States? Do you believe that strengthening the ability of fusion centers to execute the COCs is critical to building an integrated National Network of Fusion Centers capable of sharing information with the federal government and other local and state entities? Why, or why not? How did one of the COCs help to prevent or stop a terrorism plot? Lastly, in recent years why has the role of fusion centers been questioned by the public and private industries? Be sure to cite and reference all quoted and paraphrased material following APA style guidelines. You must use at least two sources in addition to your textbook. At least one of your sources must be from the CSU Online Library. The International Security and Counter Terrorism Reference Center database found in the CSU Online Library is a good place to start.

Is the author trying to persuade the audience? Is the document or source simply a compilation of facts, or does it include opinion, inference, or interpretation? Is this source credible and accurate? Historians must examine every source with a critical eye. What do you know about the author? Does the document make sense? Do the facts presented by the author or what you know about the time period support the thesis, statement, assertion, or story the author is conveying? Why should you trust, or distrust, this source? How is this source valuable to me? How does the source relate to other sources from the time period or along the same issue or theme? Does it support or contradict them? Cultural Site

Write a paper of a minimum of 200 words describing your visit to one of the real or virtual museums from the list below that you visit this week or that you have visited within the last 30 days. Name the site, describe its purpose, and tell me what you saw and heard. Be sure to state if you visited a real, physical site or if you visited an online version of a real museum. Describe one aspect of the site that you found most surprising, or that interested you the most. If you visit an art museum, find two pieces and tell me about them. Tell me the titles of the two pieces, the names of the artists, what you see in each piece, what the pieces were made of, the approximate dimensions of each piece, and what you think the artists were trying to communicate to you as the viewer. If you visit a historical museum, find one exhibit and tell me the title of the exhibit, and how the exhibit and its artifacts and text helped you to understand the story that the exhibit was trying to tell you. If you decide to visit a physical site, take a digital picture or scan the entry ticket or the program, or take a picture of yourself at the site. Take one or two of the virtual tours from one or two of these web pages, and write your review of the site or sites just as if you were visiting a real, physical museum. How effective is the site at showing the art, helping you to understand the art and helping you to wander around and see nearby works of art, and how clear are the images that the site gives you? Find two pieces that you name and that you find intriguing, and describe those works, just as if you were seeing them in a real museum. Why did these two pieces get your attention? This paper and all your papers must be submitted double-spaced, and must be submitted in Microsoft Word, in rich text format or as a pdf file. You must put your name on the top. You must check your grammar and spelling, or ask for someone in Valencia’s online Tutoring Center to help you do so, since grammar and spelling errors will be counted against your grade. All your papers this semester require a minimum of 200 words. You are free to write more than that if you wish, but writing more than 200 words per paper is not necessary.
