The Spirit-Filled Life

To understand what Paul means by a Spirit-filled life, one must first understand three major terms of Paul’s teaching. They are: sinfulness, justification, and sanctification.   This assignment contains multiple parts. However, all parts can be submitted in the same 750-1000 word document. The document must be in APA format which includes a cover page and reference page.       Part 1   Using an academic resource (ex.: biblical dictionary or biblical encyclopedia), define the following terms:   ?      Sin ?      Justification ?      Baptism ?      Sanctification   APA citations must be included. Keep in mind that Wikipedia is not an academic resource.   Part 2   In this part, students will demonstrate their understanding of the terms defined in Part 1.   ?      Sin After reading this week’s reading and the article, “Slavery in the First Century,” discuss what it means to be a “slave to sin” and a “slave to God.” Which slave would you rather be and why? Your response is to include at least one reference to the course material,  one reference to the article, and one reference to Scripture.   ?      Justification/Baptism After reading Chapter 4 in the Brauch textbook and Romans 3:21-4:25, discuss the following questions: ?      What does it mean to be justified by faith? ?      How does baptism help us to demonstrate our relationship with God? Your responses are to include at least one reference to course materials and one reference to Scripture.   ?      Sanctification After viewing the video, “What is Sanctifying Grace,” and reading the article, “Righteous People are Not Immune to Sin,” discuss the following questions: ?      What does it mean to live a life in which we love God with our whole hearts? ?      Can a person live a life without sin?   Your responses are to include at least one reference to the video, one reference to the article, and one reference to Scripture.  Provide a personal example to any one of the given questions.   Part 3   Write a 1-page summary discussing what you have learned from your study of sin, justification, baptism, and sanctification. Address these questions: ?      What did you learn that was new to you? ?      What did you find confusing? ?      How do you see these elements playing out in your own life?   Provide a detailed, personal example to support your response to one of the questions.

Who is this king of glory

A. Standard Turabian format is required since you will submit this document as an attachment through the appropriate course link in the assignments area. 1. Turabian helps can be found when you click on the “LRS Library” button. Please understand that Turabian is not a suggestion. 2. The only Turabian page a book review needs is the standard “Title” page found in all Turabian papers. It does not need a Table of Contents, Introduction, or Conclusion. All other Turabian requirements apply. B. This book review is a combination of book report/critical analysis dealing with the strengths and weaknesses, biases or prejudices, and other significant facts noted in the work. A critical book review should include the following: 1. Bibliographic entry is placed on the first one or two lines of the very first page. 2. Brief biographical sketch of author (about a paragraph in length) 3. Author’s intention (purpose for the book) 4. Brief summary of contents with a critical analysis showing the strengths and weaknesses of the authors’s points. a. The summary of the contents should demonstrate to me that you have read the book. Do not write esoterically about the chapter, but give me the factual content of the chapter in a clear concise fashion. Some professors do not want summaries in their book reviews. That is their right. In book reviews done for me, I do want summaries. b. A rule of thumb for the length of the summary section of the book review is about 4 paragraphs for each chapter of the book. If the book is divided into sections in the book’s table of contents (where each section contains several chapters), then you should have about 4-5 pages per section. 13 5. Your personal reaction to the book. a. What impact has the book made on you and why? b. What are you going to do about it? C. The Book Review may be typed in WordPerfect or Word. If you use Word be sure that it is the full-version Word and not the “Word” version in Microsoft Works. D. Grading the book review: 1. Turabian format: 4 points 2. Grammar 5 points 3. Bibliographic entry 3 points 4. Biographic entry 3 points 5. Author’s intent 5 points 6. Summary/Analysis 75 points 7. Personal reaction 5 points

Theology of Hymns

Select 2-3 Christian hymns or choruses or other Christian music that in some way addresses the hope Christians have in the midst of sorrow or suffering. Analyze the theology of these songs: How well do they each portray a Biblical view of suffering? How do they compare/contrast with our readings on the sovereignty and/or suffering of God? What kind of hope does each song convey? Be sure to include the lyrics to the song at the end of your paper (this will not count toward total pages of your paper)
