Turabian helps can be found when you click on the “LRS Library” button. Please understand that Turabian is not a suggestion. 2. The only Turabian page a book review needs is the standard Title page found in all Turabian papers. It does not need a Table of Contents, Introduction, or Conclusion. All other Turabian requirements apply. B. This book review is a combination of book report/critical analysis dealing with the strengths and weaknesses, biases or prejudices, and other significant facts noted in the work. A critical book review should include the following: 1. Bibliographic entry is placed on the first one or two lines of the very first page. 2. Brief biographical sketch of author (about a paragraph in length) 3. Authors intention (purpose for the book) 4. Brief summary of contents with a critical analysis showing the strengths and weaknesses of the authors’s points. a. The summary of the contents should demonstrate to me that you have read the book. Do not write esoterically about the chapter, but give me the factual content of the chapter in a clear concise fashion. Some professors do not want summaries in their book reviews. That is their right. In book reviews done for me, I do want summaries. b. A rule of thumb for the length of the summary section of the book review is about 4 paragraphs for each chapter of the book. If the book is divided into sections in the books table of contents (where each section contains several chapters), then you should have about 4-5 pages per section. 13 5. Your personal reaction to the book. a. What impact has the book made on you and why? b. What are you going to do about it? C. The Book Review may be typed in WordPerfect or Word.
