Leadership Communication | Get Solution Now

(3 PAGES TO DISCUSS) Topic: Leadership skills that contribute to leader better communication effectiveness in the public sector Thread Prompt: Discuss in detail the types of communication skills and suggest a leader communication strategy for effective leadership communication. Also consider communication strategies found by leaders in the Bible. Apply at least 1 biblical passage that speaks to biblical communication approaches and style. Explain why you picked the passage and what it means to you. (2 PAGES) 2X  250 WORD REPLIES TO THE FOLLOWING RESPONSES; MUST INCLUDE BIBLICAL PASSAGE #1 According to Purpose in Leadership Just Irving, there are five different types of leadership communication. The first is beginning with verbal and nonverbal. These verbal and non-verbal give social cues and communicate language even if none is spoken. Secondly, intentional and unintentional. This is more geared towards emotions and interpretation. Thirdly, conscious, and unconscious. This is a communication directed towards employees and may indirectly affect their perception. Fourthly we have action and inaction. This is how we can communicate the gung ho attitude or be a hermit and no forward movement. Lastly, head and heart. This is huge for so many organizations to have proper communication about head and heart. Many public organizations suffer from the right head being in the game, with no heart. Developing effective communication demands that the leader implements ways to integrate all different styles of communication. Ideally, we would pick up on social cues that deal with these different communication types, but COVID-19 has slowed many down. These differing communication styles are essential in their way! For effective leadership communication, I will propose that there be a combination of all the traits above. A leader should be able to be a mix of all the traits listed above. (Parr, 2016) Even in uncertain times, a leader should at least be adaptable and socially aware. Most of these traits of communication are excellent forms to give employees a sense of understanding and empathy. With COVID-19, I have found that it is challenging to portray some of this leadership communication, whether verbal or non-verbal, due to the inability to interact face to face. (Henry, 2020) Leadership and communication have had to adapt. Today, we utilize face to face zoom or Microsoft teams meetings with employees (cameras on, course). We feel that this creates a well-received form of communication instead of only communicating by email. (Goggin, 2020) This virtual face to face allows for verbal and nonverbal cues which are needed with communication!#2Things that can cause written communication to be less effective are misspelled words, tense issues, grammatical errors, and fused or fragmented sentences (Coffelt, 2019). The listening component of communication skills is one of the most important aspects of communication, as the communicator is conveying not only information but details about their moods, attitudes, and levels of engagement. The Bible says in Proverbs 11:12, that a man of understanding holds his peace, and in Ecclesiastes 7:21-22, it says we are not to take the things that people say too literally. Nonverbal communication is the conveyance of “far more subtle and embedded” information, which has to do with our body language, tone, and gestures that can tell our audience about how we feel and are connected with the information (Van Wart, 2011, p. 294). An example of nonverbal communication may be found in Genesis 4:6 when God as Cain why had his countenance fallen, perceiving there was an issue by the nonverbal cues Cain gave. It is important to acknowledge that leaders will do well to ensure that they carefully consider who the communication is geared towards, how to use their communication tools to help convey the messaging, and gauging the appropriate time to deliver certain messages (Raphael & Nesbary, 2005). Proverbs 15:2 discusses the importance of a timely word, also a measure of responsiveness in public service.
