[Get Solution] Principles and Practice of Toxicology

Each week I try to come up with something clever and uplifting to say. I don’t want to waste your time with these announcements. If we were in a classroom setting I could dazzle you with witty and pithy comments. But online I can’t so I have to try and say something that you might just find useful. What I consistently see in your assessments and papers are simple mistakes according to APA guidelines. I know these guidelines are nit-picky and I also know that there is so much variability between professors that you don’t know what to expect. I know that is beyond frustrating, it was for me as well. But for me I want you to follow these guidelines. Is it that important to follow the instructions? I have one student now who was a bomb disposal guy. How important do you think it is to follow the instructions when defusing a bomb? So the instructions say to cut the green wire before cutting the yellow wire. Does it really matter? What is the worst that could happen? Can you all say “boom”. What if you were to receive a score of 100% for an assignment but I wasn’t paying attention to the detail and gave you 10% instead? It is only one more 0. What’s the big deal? Each assignment requires the use of references, in-text citations, word counts, and content. Some of you get it, some of you don’t, and some it seems just don’t care. I want you to succeed and graduate and come out here and help us save lives. That is how important this stuff is. We are not dealing with HR issues, or accounting issues, or logistics. We are SAFETY!! We watch our people and protect them from making fatal mistakes. One of our students is a firefighter out in Fresno, CA. You may have seen his video of him falling thru the roof of a fully involved garage fire. Do you think the little things made a difference to him that day? A couple of weeks ago on a wind turbine construction job in NE, a crane operator was killed when his rough terrain crane rolled over because of a soft roadway. He was crushed by the machine as it rolled over. I don’t know all the details, but it seems to me he didn’t have his seat belt on. Had he stayed in the cab he would have been protected and would be alive today? A little thing like a seat belt. Attention to detail makes or breaks us all. In SAFETY there is very little gray area; mostly it is black or white. It is either right or wrong. Is it safe or not? Is it right or not? Those are the questions that are asked everyday of us in safety. Please pay attention to the details because paying attention here might mean you will be paying attention out there and perhaps saving someone’s father or brother. Thank you. This unit deals with toxicity testing. NIOSH stuff. How much of what and how long can we deal with it? LD50 and LC50. Sound familiar? Hexavalent Chromium? Methyl ethyl ketone? How about ammonia and bleach? Ring any alarm bells?Unit VI Case Study· Weight: 12% of course grade· Grading Rubric· Due: Tuesday, 08/10/2020 11:59 PM (CST)InstructionsRecent studies support the potential of a drug that is derived from the metal iridium to effectively treat cancer. This experimental drug, Drug ZL105, has not been tested for efficacy and toxicity. Imagine that you are the one responsible for approving or denying the use of this drug within the United States. Your job is to propose the testing that is needed for this drug to be determined as safe and effective for the treatment of cancer in humans. In your research and discussion, you should address the questions below.1. What model(s) will you use for testing (i.e., animal, cell cultures, and computer simulations)? Explain the choice of model, and provide support for the reliability of the model. Discuss the pros and cons of your choice.2. In determining the safety and effectiveness of the drug, would it be necessary to test efficacy, toxicity, and lethality? Explain what each of these tests are for and whether or not one or more of the tests are necessary for your determination.3. Provide your thoughts on what information you hope to gather from your tests and whether or not the same protocol should be used for various categories of products such as drugs, cosmetics, and herbal medicines.Your case study assignment should be three to four pages in length and utilize at least three reliable references. Use APA style guidelines in writing this assignment, following APA rules for formatting, quoting, paraphrasing, citing, and referencing.ResourcesThe following resource(s) may help you with this assignment.§ Citation Guide

[Get Solution] Reproductive System

As you have learned in this module, the female and male reproductive systems are two homologous organ systems that developed from the same tissue embryologically speaking. Pregnancy involves anatomical and physiological changes in both the mother and the developing human that are driven by the nervous and endocrine systems. In this assignment, you will examine how hormones drive these anatomical and physiological changes. Instructions Prepare a written paper of at least 1000 words discussing the following bullet points: Describe anatomical and physiological changes that occur at the gross and histological levels during pregnancy and postpartum in the mother and developing human during the following stages: Fertilization Embryonic development Fetal development Birth Postpartum period Examine how hormones regulate the ovarian cycle, in utero development, and the process of labor and giving birth. Briefly discuss the similarities and differences in oogenesis vs. Spermatogenesis. Your paper should be formatted as a proper research paper with an introduction and conclusion. Do not simply follow the bullet points above, but really think about what you have learned and how that relates to other material we have covered, and knowledge you have from other courses you may have taken. The Research and Report assignments in this course are capstone assignments for each module. You should be integrating everything that you learned in the textbook, explorations, discussions, and lab activities into your papers. All references must be cited using APA Style format.

[Get Solution] Journal Article Review

THE JOURNAL ARTICLE REVIEW: The objective is to introduce you to primary research in science, particularly as it pertains to body systems and current events. The assignment is to read a peer-reviewed article from a scholarly journal in the field of medicine or microbiology. You should choose an article that pertains to Covid 19 and the human body; this can include mechanisms of infection, effects on individual body systems, immune response, vaccine development, etc. These types of articles are often new research based on clinical studies, autopsies, or literature reviews where the author(s) summarize the literature and current knowledge. Your review should have a description of the article, a paraphrased summary of it’s major points, and your own analysis / assessment of the work. In order to do this, you will need to read the article more than once and probably seek additional references for the parts you don’t understand. TO LOCATE AN APPROPRIATE ARTICLE: You can find lots of scholarly articles online by starting with a simple Google search. Full text Scholarly (peer reviewed) journals Published in the last 5 years HOW TO WRITE THE REVEIW: Here is an example correct formatting for your journal article review. It should be two-three pages long, typed, double spaced. REFERENCE. SHOULD OT BE ON THE SECOND PAGE AND ZERO PLAGIARISM SHOULD BE DETECTED. You can put your name and info at the top of the first page; there is no need for a cover page. Your Name BIOL 2114 or 2117 Date Author(s). (year of publication). Article title. Journal name, volume, number, pages. Example: Prasad, N. & Agrawal, A. (2020). Covid 19 and acute kidney injury. Indian Journal of Nephrology, 30(3) 161-165. First, introduce the article. This article examines the effects of Coronavirus 19 on the renal system, in particular, acute kidney injury, or AKI. The authors examine clinical data of kidney function in multiple subsets of Covid 19 patients to determine how the virus gains entry to and damages tubular cells in the kidney. This article also addresses the immune response relative to the renal and respiratory expression of the virus, as well as clinical considerations concerning treatment options. Next, explain and critique the methods used and/or the findings presented. • State your opinion about the article and back it up with evidence and logical analysis. • State the author’s purpose in conducting the research. • Quotes and paraphrases from the article to support your statements. • State why this research matters and specifically tie it to something you learned in class this semester.

[Get Solution] The Ecology of Ebolavirus

Instructions: – Please write the number of double-spaced pages that are equivalent to 2475 words on the topic of The Ecology of Ebolavirus, making sure to cover each of the three necessary components mentioned below. – Please make sure that you are typing in 12pt Times New Roman Font, with one-inch margins. – Please use PUBMED (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed) and Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.com/) as your two databases for scientific literature searches, in order to find the 15 required number of sources. – Please make sure to use Harvard style for your in-text citations (http://www.citethisforme.com/harvard-referencing), and please be sure to leave a link behind an in-text citation or at the end of the pages that you write, so that I can create a Harvard style reference list and include the references that you sought out. More Details: Topic: Should include a parasite, pathogen, or disease, interaction(s) with its host(s), and environmental factor(s). Sections in the report can focus on other aspects (e.g., disease symptoms) but those 3 components must be included somewhere. – My topic is centered on The Ecology of Ebolavirus, with a focus on what we know about reservoir hosts- i.e., which wildlife species are known to host ebolaviruses, in which areas, etc. and how this relates to human disease risk. – I will attach a PDF of the broad outline that I sent to my professor as my “Introduction” to Ebolaviruses. This is a good start, but the focus needs to adjust more prominently on the reservoirs and human health risks. The report requirements PDF will say that the thesis is 15-double-spaced pages because it is, but I am just having you write the number of pages equivalent to 2475 words and I am going to write the rest after receiving the final version you submit and integrate them with one another. – Please make sure that it is double-spaced and that you are writing in 12pt Times New Roman font, with 1-inch margins. The report requirements PDF will also say that >20 references, including a maximum of 3 review articles and 2 websites are required for the thesis. I have already selected the three review articles and two websites references that I am going to include and therefore, I have indicated that the number of sources required for your pages is 15 sources. These sources need to be scientific literature references please (Google Scholar and Pub-Med are recommended by my professor) and please make sure that you DO use the Harvard style for your included in-text citations. You DO NOT, however, have to create a reference list for all 15 sources in Harvard style. Please just make sure to include links next to the in-text citations or links that are organized all together on the last page of the word doc, that way I can go back and create the Harvard style reference list after receiving your final version submitted to me! – I have included a couple of PDF and/or linked scientific literature sources on the Upload Files page that I found useful and heavily correlating with the theme of my thesis.
