Trauma Informed Practice
Description According to the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (n.d.), a traumatic event is a frightening, dangerous, or violent event that poses a threat to a childs life or bodily integrity. Witnessing a traumatic event that threatens life or physical security of a loved one can also be traumatic. This understanding of trauma is especially important for teachers in educational settings where children who experience different types of trauma are present and need to succeed in classrooms at all academic levels. Understanding trauma informed practice and how it functions in schools is essential to the success of each and every educator. There are three major items to accomplish for this assignment.
