Read “Sanity” in The Night in Question. 1.Many of Tobias Wolffs narrators seem alienated in the places they find themselves. Discuss how Wolff develops themes of alienation in one of the stories we’ve read this week. 2.Chose a Wolff story written in first person and one written in third person, and discuss the effect of each point of view. Include in your discussion such elements as authorial distance and your sense of empathy with the protagonist. How would each story have been changed if written in a different point of view?
