Theories of Personality
This assignment is designed to allow you to practice applying personality concepts to real life. Let’s say you choose to use Barack Obama, Adolf Hitler, Micheal Jackson and Ronald Reagan. It’s completely up to you which 3 theorists you use for each case study, but you’ll need to use all 11 (and then one of them again). So let’s say you choose Barack Obama – George Kelly, Abraham Maslow, and Sigmund Freud Micheal Jackson – Buddhism, Sigmund Freud, and Raymond Cattell Adolf Hitler – Carl Jung, Karen Horney, and Erik Erikson Ronald Reagan – Carl Rogers, Albert Bandura, and Alfred Adler The assignment is to apply and discuss how personality theories from each theorist listed above can be applied to the everyday lives (case studies) of Obama, Jackson, Hitler, and Reagan. You will discuss three theories for each case study, so it should be about 1 page per theory for each person and should equal 12 pages when finished. I have provided the biographies of Obama, Jackson, Hitler, and Reagan; you will need to research information on the theorists and their personality theories and write how they apply to the lives of Obama, Jackson, Hitler, and Reagan. INSTRUCTIONS FROM PROFESSOR Purpose This assignment is designed to allow you to practice applying personality concepts to real life. Task Description There are many case studies to choose from, but you only need to choose four of them. Then, you take the 11 theories you’ve studied this semester and apply 3 to each case study. Now, you’re probably thinking “but 3 x 4 is 12, and we only have 11 theories.” You are right,so you get to choose one to use again. Format Please submit it as 1 12-page Word document. It does not need to flow from one theorist to the next, nor from one case study to the next. Please put your name on your paper. Use 14-point font, double spacing, and 1 margins. Audience Your audience is other majors who have an understanding of the theories of personality. There is no need to define common terms because everyone has a clear understanding of them.
