The Winter’s Tale, Act 4 and 5

This assignment is based on the play The Winter’s Tale by William Shakespeare. Specifically, act FOUR AND FIVE of this play. The questions should receive a full response to it, answering the prompt question in-depth, along with TEXTUAL EVIDENCE (QUOTES) from ACT 4, and 5 that supports your words. The response should be a well-developed paragraph  – whatever you feel is right – as long as the question is fully answered with quotes and strong analysis – for both questions! The structure should be, the question and then the answer underneath. NOTE – When citing Shakespeare plays, list the ACT, SCENE, and LINES in parenthetical citations (page numbers are NOT included), separated by periods. Enclose the citation in parentheses. For example: (Macbeth 1.3.14-17) refers to Act 1, Scene 3, Lines 14 to 17 of Macbeth QUESTIONS AS FOLLOWS; Question 1 – The ending – What do you think of the play’s ending? Does it change your understanding of the earlier acts, and if so, how? Who, if anyone, seems to you to be the play’s hero? Question 2 – What does Autolycus add to the themes, issues, and concerns we’ve seen in the play so far? How do the festivities at the sheep-shearing party reflect or change the play’s preoccupations? What’s new in this setting, and what kinds of continuity do we see? Please answer the questions in its own well-developed lengthy response with quotes to support your statements and STRONG ANALYSIS – explain how the quote answers the prompt and what it shows – Response MUST BE STRONG AND FORMAL WRITING.
