The vernacular musical Traditions of Rural African Americans

Beginning in the 1920s, the vernacular musical traditions of rural African Americans and rural white Americans began to emerge as distinct and important elements of the popular music industry. Describe the history and processes of social, economic, and technological development that contributed both to the early formation of these traditions, and later to the entry of these vernacular musics into the modern popular music industry, as well as any ideological implications associated with the development of these musics.
