The Perfect Storm
Select a film that you wish to watch that is filmed in the outdoors or revolves around a physical geographical event. This film can be fiction, fun, or historical, it is your choice. Some examples of films are Maverick, The Perfect Storm, Volcano, Twister, Lion King, etc. DO NOT use San Andreas or Perfect Storm! Write a 4-5 pages double-space MLA Format Essay (10 or 12pt font) answering the following questions a.) What physical processes do you see (example: is it raining? What process is that?) b.) Natural Hazards c.) Which climate is being shown (desert, mid-latitude) d.) Include maps from your atlas to show where this is occurring or maps that show statistics of the physical process or climate. -Please note, this is NOT a summary of the movie! You need to discuss key terms and processes from class and include maps from the atlas! 1. You must explain, define key terms when explaining a process. You will not be able to just write a sentence like this: Precipitation is the 3rd stage in the Hydrological Cycle. One example of a correct way to write this sentence would be: Precipitation is when water molecules fall to the ground due to their heaviness and it is the third stage in the Hydrological Cycle. 2. You must use a map to explain each of the processes. Example of an incorrect sentence: Areas like Ireland receive lots of rain. One example of a correct way to write this sentence would be: Precipitation varies around the world, as we can see according to the Annual Precipitation and Ocean Currents map in the atlas on page 36-37.
