You will choose one communicable disease from the table in your textbook. Table 6-1 on pages 139-143. Research the disease/illness of your choice and will create a slideshow detailing the following: What is the condition? What are the characteristics and symptoms? How does it occur? Are there cures or treatments available? What are some coping strategies? How does it affect the person on a daily basis? Is there pain involved and if so, how is it managed? Must the infected person be isolated from others? Are there medical treatments available? Promotion and prevention: What can we do as teachers/educators to support these children while in our care? Are there organizations that are actively involved in research or prevention of the condition?
