Students are encouraged to use their own health care goals to complete this project. However, it is possible that students may be unable to find all items related directly to their selection. In those cases, students should seek out a resource that is available to a similar health career. Use the following questions and scoring rubric to collect, organize, and report your findings on your selected health occupation. Cut and paste your document into Blackboard to submit. *Include links to all online resources. Health Career Selected Is this career regulated by the state Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation? If so, describe and link to the IDFPR site specific to this career. Is there a licensing or certification exam for this career? If so, describe and link to the exam authority (5 points) Does this career have one or more national professional organizations? If so, list and link to one or more. (5 points) Does this career have one or more codes of ethics? (can be national or international) If so, name sponsoring organizations and link to one or more. (10 points) Search for a reputable scholarly publication from the last 5 years that looks at ethical issues pertaining to workers in this health career. Prove a link to the publication and write a 3-5 sentence description of the ethical issue that was studied. (15 points) Search for a popular press item from the last 5 years that looks at legal or ethical issues of AN INDIVIDUAL person working in this health career. Select a reputable press source. Provide a link to the item and write a 3-5 sentence description of the legal or ethical issue involved. (Popular press can include newspapers, magazines, blogs, online news organizations. Look for a source that is open to and read by the public, not one that is written specifically for others of this health career.) (15 points)
