Stand Alone Document
This assignment should be a stand-alone document of 2 or 3 pages for this assignment. Include at least two diagrams or visual elements in the description. Remember this is a stand-alone document, NOT a letter or memo. Follow the outline in your text on Page 181. Use the principles of description from the textbook for your description. For either option your reader is: Carl Jones, Operations Chief Mansure, Inc. 564 South Hudson Court Tucson, AZ 82244 Option A In your job as a consultant at TechCon you have been working with Mansure, Inc. The reason you have been working with this company on this account is that your expertise fits well with their business. In the course of working there consulting on new equipment upgrades you discover that they need to become aware of this equipment, _________ . (Here is where you fill in the blank with a piece of equipment that you are familiar with because of what youve been studying in your major and where you plan to work.) This could be lab equipment, a new software program, or a new device of some kind. Even though you may know about it, Mansure has not had the money or the inclination to use it in the past. You need to describe this piece of equipment. Write for the reader who is NOT familiar with the item. (The goal here is that you can use something that you know about. You still may need to add information from some other sources, which you will cite.) You are NOT selling the equipment. You are a consultant explaining and describing it Your task in this situation is only to describe it to a reader who is not aware of it. Option B Although most of us drive vehicles, they are certainly not all the same. You may have or wish you had certain features or capabilities of your vehicle which are not known or used by others. Describe that feature for readers who do not know about it. Remember this could be a feature you wish you had. Your readers will be at Mansure, Inc. a delivery company. They will be considering adding this feature to their current fleet of vehicles or using it in the new ones they buy as they replace the old ones. Describe the feature in a 2-3 page document. Remember to focus on the business application at Mansure. (This might include a GPS device for example.)
