[SOLVED] Probability and Statistics

STEP A – COLLECTING YOUR DATA FIRST 1. Open up Google sheets OR an Apple Numbers, OR a Microsoft Word document. (I would provide the document but I don’t know what apps everyone uses and is familiar with). 2. Label 3 columns across the top Dice 1, Dice 2, Sum of Faces. 3. Go to this website (any random dice roller website). And perform 36 rolls. Record your data in your sheet.  4. Once you have finished, create a frequency table below your count, that corresponds to the sums 2 through 12.  5. Save or export your file as such firstnamelastname.xlsx  ——————– STEP B – YOUR STATISTICS AND SHARING IT WITH YOUR PEERS 1. Your data that was in your record sheet (frequency table) and put it in L1 and L2 in calculator. 2. Find the descriptive statistics using your calculator. 3. Create a histogram using your calculator. (Adjust the window settings if need be – you all had some algebra so you know what you should be looking for far as looking at the axis and scaling. Don’t ask me to help. This is an application of your algebra knowledge). 4. Create a box and whisker plot using your calculator.  5 Start a thread: INITIAL POST – FAILURE TO DO WILL RESULT IN A ZERO OR IF NOT DONE CORRECTLY WILL RESULT IN A LOSS OF  A LOT OF POINTS.  A. Provide using correct notation, the descriptive statistics in your calculator. Yes -type it up (no pictures). Just provide this in list (top- down form) B. Provide a 3 paragraph summary about:  2 paragraphs –  What does your descriptive statistics say about your data? Make conclusions AND answer the question I gave in the beginning about MAKING PREDICTIONS (If you did not do that assignment, ask your peers what it was).  Be incredibly specific. Please use good grammar and no bullet points.  1 paragraph – Describe your histogram and box and whisker plot that you made from your calculator. What is shape? How do know by looking at your calculator displays? STEP A: LOOKING AT YOUR DATA AGAIN 1. Open up your excel file. Create a relative frequency chart below your frequency chart. (Take your frequency of each respective sum/36) 2. Below the relative frequency list. Find the sum of all the relative frequencies.  STEP B: INTIAL POST – START A THREAD – FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN A ZERO OR FAILURE TO FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS WILL RESULT IN A LOSS OF POINTS START WITH A PARAGRAPH ANSWERING THE FOLLOWING What is the difference between experimental and theoretical probability?  CONTINUE WITH 2 PARAGRAPHS – Talk about your data in reference to Chapter 4 & 5.  Include information about its connections to 1. Probability  (use the relative frequencies)  What was your experiment? What were classified as your your events/simple events, outcomes, sample space?  P(sum of 2) P(sum of 7) P(sum of 3 or sum of an odd number) P(sum of a number divisible by 2 or a sum of a number divisible 4) Observation of mutually exclusive, non mutually exclusive events, dependent events, independent events.  2.  Probability Distributions  Is yours a valid one?  Find the mean  and standard deviation (using your calculator) of the probability distribution. Discuss what this tells us about your data.  FINISH WITH ONE LAST PARAGRAPH. How does your experimental compare the theoretical? Be incredibly specific.  Consider this chart to help you with that:
