In other words, has the “supernatural world” lodged itself, as a world of fantasy, in the child’s imagination, and is that fantastical world now accessible through make-believe, game-playing, and literature? And how does the world(s) of fantasy and imagination function to construct the social world (social relations, social etiquette), the notions of gender (development of masculine and feminine selves)? How are these worlds complicit in the value of education to the child? In short, what is the relationship between fantasy/the imagination of a child, and a child’s ability to learn adaptive skills (be it academic, social, or gender norms/roles, as it pertains to their education) for the normative world of the adult?Helpful hint: Select 2-4 chapters from the novel (depending on your argument) and focus on 2-3 characters, as you consider building your questions, thesis, and claims.Write a 5-page paper (5 full pages) that develops an argument about the role of fantasy, the place of the otherworldly/supernatural, and/or the function of the imagination, in the development of some aspect of normative life (the normative world).Be sure the paper is rendered in Times New Roman 12-point font with one-inch margins and is double-spaced. Be sure you quote several times per body paragraph, building the paper around quotes plus analysis of those quotes (conceptual and RLW analysis), showing in the analysis how you are proving your thesis’s major claims.
