This book is the product of an academic thesis intentionally designed to be a critique of various theological traditions within Christianity. The purpose of reading and critiquing this book is to help you learn how to evaluate and process the merits and faults of a theological position, while being respectful. Our responsibility before God and others is to ground our convictions in the contextual principles of God’s Word.Liberty University brings great diversity, and each theological tradition has its own strengths; at the same time, we are to be people of the Word. As such, we must be committed to seeking to understand truth rightly, even at the expense of our own traditions. This book provides a critique of various positions within the Christian tradition. The ultimate point of the book is to demonstrate how we should allow the Bible to speak for itself and serve as the basis of our beliefs, correcting even our own traditional views as necessary. The goal is to challenge us to base our views on the whole of God’s Word. This evaluation of our beliefs and traditions in light of the Bible is something we should do throughout life.Additionally, we must be able to respectably disagree with others when necessary, not based on that person’s traditions, but based on Scripture.INSTRUCTIONSWrite a critique of the Introduction.Then each of the subsequent 4 main chapters. Your critique of each chapter must include:o Summary of the chapter (100 words)o Response to the chapter (100 words)? With what did you agree or disagree? (Clearly state: “I agree/disagree with…”)? Why? Use at least 3 distinct biblical passages to support your position.Each section of the critique must have clear bolded headings.Work to go beyond a general summary of the content, to focus on the main point and interact with the purpose of each chapter.
