[SOLVED] Language Acquisition and Language Development
How does the role of the adult affect language acquisition and language development for bilingual children?1. All of the information (or the majority of it) used to write this essay should be taken from the links, websites and sources provided in the files attached to the order. The file with the literature highlighted in purple is the one with the three more important texts, where you should get lots of information). The rest of the files with literature have some sources highlighted in red, please make sure that you use all of them to explain your arguments. All of this have to appear in the bibliography as well. This is really important as there are some key texts that I need to include in order to pass (specially the ones highlighted in purple and the core texts highlighted in red). Please make use of journal articles and case studies provided in the reference list (in the files).2. All of the information from the essay has to be free of plagiarism and cited in Harvard Referencing System.3. The essay needs to be mostly paraphrasing, but it also has to include direct quotes and quotes (long and short) but SPECIALLY PARAPHRASING; and support all of the ideas with literature.5. The essay needs the following structure: introduction, body and conclusion; but it all has to flow in together (use subheadings if it will make it more structured). There is also a file about the use of subheadings. You can “split” the essay into two main areas of focus (and reflecting about the role of the adult on each):a) Parents, home environment and how they affect bilingualism. How do the parents speak? How bilingualism develop in the home? How do children learn two languages simultaneously (concept of simultaneous language learning), etc.b) Settings and how they affect bilingualism. What does this mean for the bilingual child in the setting? How culturally they support him/her to fit in? How difficult can be to learn the curricula when it is in English? What are the challenges? How practitioners that do not speak the language have to work really hard to support them and learn words in their language. Show an understanding that this could be a difficult transition.6. The introduction should give background information into the topic area (include definitions, interest facts or quotations) and outline all the ideas youre going to present in order. The introduction should also include the reason for writing about this topic.7. The conclusion should summarise very briefly all the ideas you have discussed as well as drawing conclusions based upon the evidence you have presented (you can show here what is your position or opinion, but without adding anything new). Make sure that you have directly answered the question posed by the title in this conclusion. It also SHOULD NOT CONTAIN new information and it should be the last paragraph of the essay.8. Within the essay:- Be critical. Are they another views? Are there theories that disagree with each other? show examples of this (i.e. X says this in this study…however, this other researcher found evidence that…)- Speak about different theories of language acquisition (in an early paragraph, maybe after the introduction), lay them out briefly and then go on to talk about the role of the adult and bilingualism (give definitions if necessary).- Construct your own argument which is based on the key point that you want to make, but do not state your opinion like “I think this…I think that…”. Instead, the essay has to suggest that you have been persuaded by one position more than other. So for example if you are talking about Chomsky’s language acquisition device, you might say something like “Chomsky said…about the development of language, however, Brunner suggested that this is more socially constructed and cultural, and looking at other research, it would suggest that this might be the case”. Therefore you’re positioning with some points of view more than others, but without saying “I think this”
