[SOLVED] Final Reflection
For your final reflection, please respond to the following: Your assignment is to reflect on what you have learned about diversity and to create an action plan for what you still need to learn about. The goal of this class was to give you a broad overview of Anti-Bias Education and Diversity in the early learning settings. You can’t learn in all in a semester, but hopefully you have a better idea of what you already do well and areas for your growth. Remember, diversity work is a life long journey. We are always learning Your assignment is to develop a personal growth plan for diversity and anti-bias education. The format is up to you and you can include what resonates for you and anything that is job specific but you must include the following: Part 1: Thinking about race/ethnicity, culture/families, disabilities, dual language learners, gender identity and socioeconomic class… What are the areas that you feel you have learned enough to be comfortable moving forward with children, families or teachers? What strengths do you bring to this work? What are the areas that you feel you need more learning and reflection before working with children, families and other teachers? Please be specific and address each area. Part 2: What have you learned about yourself and your own identities throughout this class? How will what you have learned about yourself help you to work more effectively with others? Part 3: Weeds, Seeds and Needs: Weeds – based on your learning so far, what ideas or concepts or previous experiences will you need to let go of to be able to move forward with this work? Seeds – what ideas have you learned that you want to apply right away in your work to plant seeds – will your work be with children, families and/or teachers from the Roots and Wings book? Needs – what resources and information do you need to continue on your diversity journey? What are your specific next steps? Who can help you on your journey and who can you connect with knowing this work can not be done alone or in isolation? Part 4: Choose any one of the three resources posted and explore the website. Share one thing that you found useful and share WHY it is useful. Part 5: Read the last few pages of the book titled Carry It On ( page 177 ). Choose one of the 10 strategies that you can commit to carry on social justice work and describe what you would like to do and why.
