This essay will cover the medias affect on the civil rights movement. You must list a thesis and 3 – 5 main points that will support your thesis. Your main points will be the different instances you found where media affected the civil right movement. If you quote any source, ensure it is properly cited. It should be double spaced, size 12 font. You must use a recognized format to cite your sources such as MLA, APA, or APSA. Work turned in not in a recognized format may not be accepted. Essay Requirements: Your essay should have an (1) introductory paragraph, (2) 3-5 supporting paragraphs and a (3) conclusion. The introductory paragraph should clearly list the thesis and list the points/ arguments (3 to 5) that will be covered in the essay. Each supporting paragraph should clearly list one of the points/arguments and should provide information that supports the point/argument, using an outside source to corroborate your view point. The conclusion should summarize the essay as a whole. Failure to follow these essay requirements will decrease your grade by 50 points. More than 3 grammatical errors in this essay will decrease your grade by 15 points. More then 5 errors will reduce it by 25 points. If full credit is received on all of the above requirements, you will have an 85 on this paper (all of the above point values will be subtracted from 85, not 100). The quality of the essay will determine the final 15 points. Quality points will run from minus 15 points to plus 15 points. The better your points/arguments are, the more quality points you will receive. You will need to include information from the outside sources in your essay. I do not want you to just tell me things that are covered in the text or you heard in class. Show me that you were able to find and apply pertinent information from the outside sources.
