The Historical Significance Paper (4-5 pages + Works Cited) The historical significance paper asks you to choose a single moment in history (not an entire war, era, etc.) and justify its significance to your audience (whom you may assume are not familiar with your topic). In this way, the paper is a bit like an argument paper, as your thesis statement will actually be a “claim” which you will defend using appropriate support.
