Research Proposal Process
Research Proposal Process Page requirements: 1.5 pages Purpose: The purpose of writing a proposal for a writing project is to help you assess the elements of the rhetorical situation and to create a work agenda to keep you focused throughout the project. Proposals are subject to some alteration as you proceed, but they provide a template from which you can plan how best to complete the project. Procedure: Please respond as fully as possible to the following questions based on the rhetorical situation. These answers will help you create the appropriate rhetorical stance for the essay. Your response should be in the form of complete sentences and paragraphs, not just a listexcept for #4. What issue are you researching? How have you narrowed the issue focus? What do you currently know about this issue? What questions do you have about this issue? State at least three research questions to focus your search. (Who, What, When, Where, Why, How) What is the purpose of this essay? What is your timeline for gathering and organizing information and drafting the essay? If you have already begun to draw some conclusions about the issue, what are your initial impressions? On what are these impressions based? What problems do you think you may have with this essay? How can you resolve those perceived problems? Give your project a working title, which may or may not become the title of your paper. List the sources you have so far.
