Racial and Cultural Differences and Our Practice

Was there a time when you were awakened by the differences in race, cultural background, or sexual identity (gender identity) between you and your patient? How did this cultural encounter change your practice? Your patient gave you a wake-up call (verbally and/or nonverbally).
