Final Project of Virtual Interview Paper and Presentation You will pick up an artist from the museum trip to MoMA (please refer to the list at the end of syllabus) for your final Virtual Interview Project (3 pages), and for the 4-5 minute presentations on the same topics. In the Virtual Interview Paper a. In question and answer format. (Q and A). You dont have to do the real interview. It is virtually constructed. b. You have to do research on the artist and discuss at least two art works by the artists in your interview. (Our Visual Analysis Guide is still a good reference for the information to be included in the interview paper.) (In the interview, Q &A can be about artist biography, period or movement and its characteristics, specific formal innovation, theme, style, technique, concepts and criticism etc.) Please attach bibliography and footnotes. You do not have to do a long introduction as the sample paper. You can just have a short outline to introduce your project. For example: 1. Artists name: Vincent Van Gogh (born 1853: died 1890) Date and place of interview: (You can construct your own scenario) 2. The 3-page Virtual interview follows the Q and A form and should avoid unnecessary or unimportant questions (such as When were you born? Or even illogical questions such as When did you die? ) and focus on the discussion of concept of style, two art works, historical context, influences and criticism etc. (Biography should be limited to ½ page) Avoid long answers. Paraphrase instead of direct plagiarism of your research material. 3. Please attach images of the art works in discussion and research material. (Find authentic research resources such as Library search, museum website, art journals, New York Times, Artist or etc. It would be good to have bibliography and footnotes.) In the Class Presentation (GroupI with last name Initial from A to L on Dec. 10) (Group II with last name Initial from K to Z on Dec. 17.) d. You will give a 4-5 minute presentation (about 4-8 slides of PowerPoint on the artist of your paper in class time. The presentation does not have to be in the interview format. e. If two students collaborate, you will present 6-8 minutes and submit 5-page paper. The purpose of this presentation is to share each others work and to introduce your artist to the class. You can decide your format or creative way to present. Here are my several suggestions: 1. Do a conventional presentation to introduce your artist. You can have about 4-8 slides of powerpoint on the artist of your paper to present. Or.. 2. You can read part of your interview paper. If two students collaborate, you will present 6-8 minutes and you can do it in a Q&A dialogue form. Or 3. You can play the artist and be dramatic .like Jackson Pollocks video (paint and talk at the same time.) 4. In other words, you can be creative. Relax and share with your classmates. 5. Do rehearsal of your presentation and count the time frame. 6. Please arrive 20 minutes before class and bring an external hard drive with your presentation to load your powerpoint images to Class Computer before class starts. (Please do not use your presentation time to log on google account or email account. (We cannot use your I-pad, computer or other device)
