The Application Assignment requires students to read and summarize a peer-reviewed article that is based on empirical research, including a discussion of the research question, the main variables, results, limitations, and a critical analysis of the research from a social justice perspective. You are expected to write about 5 pages. So far we have covered the following: • Common errors of reasoning • Ethics in Social Work Practice • Conceptualization and Measurements • Population, Samples, and Sampling • Research Designs All these topic areas have smaller topic areas like sampling bias, validity, levels of measurement, etc. The goal of this assignment is to use some of these areas in your paper. Touch on at least three topic areas we have discussed in class. As you review the research, identify: 1. The main variables – dependent and independent variables – what are the key variables the researcher is investigating? 2. If present, discuss the other variable(s) the researcher controlling for? Why? 3. What are the limitations of this study? 4. What direction would you like to see future research go? Why? 5. Perform a critical analysis of the research from a social justice perspective How can you tell an article is peer-reviewed? There are a few resources online that can help. One way is by looking if the article say
