Multicultural Awareness Project

This week, you will begin to lay the groundwork necessary for your Multicultural Awareness Project and start to connect with other professionals who you could interview as part of your assignment. In a Word Document, provide your answers to the following prompts: State your degree program (Associates Degree) and briefly summarize your desired career path and career goals ( become A medical administrative Assistant.)   Identify at least three specific individuals or professional organizations in your field with whom you can connect on LinkedIn or email directly via a professional website. For instance, if you are pursuing a degree or career in human resources, you might look on LinkedIn for individuals affiliated with SHRM. If you are completing a degree in early childhood education, you might browse LinkedIn for people who are members of NAEYC. If you are studying to become a paralegal, you could look on LinkedIn for individuals affiliated with NALA. You can also search LinkedIn for people who have the job title that you would like to someday have (such as “paralegal,” “coder and biller,” or “head preschool teacher.” If you are not comfortable using LinkedIn, many professional organization websites offer ways for you to connect via email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Remember, though, as you have learned in previous courses, cultivating a professional online presence is important for your job search and future promotional opportunities. Creating a LinkedIn profile and connecting with others is one way to do this. Though it might feel strange or awkward to message strangers to discuss your chosen career field, this is a great way to start to form professional connections that can benefit you now and in the future.
