Mental Health Disorder

You will NEED access to the DSM-5 for this assignment 1) Choose a famous person. This can be a current celebrity or someone famous from the past that you believe suffered from some mental health disorder or know has a mental health disorder. 2) Read reports on this person. Books, articles, gossip columns are ok for this assignment. 3) Then make a diagnosis. (It can be a diagnosis you came up with or one they were officially given). It needs to be a DSM 5 diagnosis The format of the discussion… start with a paragraph introducing your chosen person and telling a bit about them and a paragraph explaining their general struggles with mental health. Then in bullet point format type the criteria for the diagnosis (In the DSM-5 you will find the criteria for the disorder in a box at the end of the description of each diagnosis, see photo/link below). You will type this directly from the DSM-5 Next to or after each bullet point write if the person met the criteria or not. If yes, describe why they met that criteria by giving an example. ***BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO PLAGIARIZE (except for the DSM criteria)…do not cut and paste anything from the internet You will write the criteria word for word from the DSM, but you will likely need to type all this out since the internet does not necessarily have the criteria correct and often paraphrases. Make sure you get DSM 5 criteria and not DSM 4. Make sure you read how many criteria the person needs to have met to have this diagnosis and make sure your person meets the minimal number of criteria. *If you pick bipolar disorder make sure you indicate if you are diagnosing bipolar I or bipolar II and list criteria for the depressive and manic or hypomanic phases.
