Measures of Success
1. Think about a project that you have been involved in or of which you have knowledge. Based on what you have learned in this unit, would you categorize that project as failed, challenged, or successful? Why? Taking the four measures of success into consideration, how does your project fare under each measure? 2. Reflect on a project that you were involved in or one of which you have knowledge. What techniques were used to effectively gather requirements? How did your project manager ensure that the requirements were accurate and thorough? 3. Reflect on a project that you were involved in or one of which you have knowledge. What techniques were used to gather and analyze risks? What about the mitigation strategies? Was a qualitative or quantitative analysis used? 4. Reflect on a project that you were involved in or one of which you have knowledge. What techniques were used to determine the activity durations? Were the activity durations basically a guess based on subject matter expertise, or was a formula used to calculate the activity durations? Why was this method chosen? Was it an accurate measure of activity durations? Why, or why not? 5. Think about a project that you have been involved in or one of which you have knowledge. Based on what you have learned in this unit, what are some of the resource constraints that made the project challenging? How did you manage the constraints and project scheduling? 6. Think about a project that you have been involved in or of which you have knowledge. What types of project estimation problems were there? What caused them? How were they resolved? 7. Think about a project that you have been involved in or one of which you have knowledge. Was there a communication plan? What types of communication issues were encountered? What caused them? How were they resolved?8. Using the industry you are currently in or will be a part of in the future, discuss the types of challenges you foresee encountering as a project manager.
