Leading an early childhood education program is a very important role in today’s society and comes with a high level of responsibility because early childhood administrators are trusted to oversee the crucial years of education, social development, safety, and well-being of our children (Gadzikowski, 2013). As a new administrator, it is so important to truly understand this role and how to best lead your organization. If you don’t understand the instructions, please contact me.    Guided Response: After reviewing several of your classmates’ posts, respond to at least three peers by respectfully critiquing their position statements from the perspective of a staff member or family in the program.   Student 1 – Nik – 70 words response   Hello everyone, Whenever it comes to early childhood education, it is very important that we build a strong foundation for our students. “The first five years of a child’s life play a critical role in the development of a child” (Gadzikowski, 2013). Children are at school or childcare for most of their day and this is why early childhood education is so important. This will help them as a long-lasting effect for the children in their lifetime. Children develop skills that deal with cognitive and social/emotional skills. Programs like head start and preschool is what helps a child grow and what helps them shine when they reach kindergarten. It is my responsibility as an early childhood educator to make sure I follow all the standards that I can to make sure I stay within the guidelines with the State Standards. With the lesson plans throughout the day, I also need to make sure I build relationships with the children and their families. It is also great to go through all the trainings each and every year. This is what builds up everything we need to know every year to keep our minds in tack. These trainings will help our classroom grow and help me with my students. Always making sure my students know that they matter is very important. I want to make a difference as a teacher. There are so many priorities that I have whenever it comes to becoming a teacher. One of my high priorities are to make sure I build a great bond with my students and their families. It is important to make sure they feel welcome and to also make sure we have great communication. Making sure I also make a great connection with my staff is very important. I will also make sure my students come first and making sure their learning comes first.   Student 2 – Cec– 70 words response   Early childhood education is important for children because it builds a foundation for life long learners. Early learning helps to prepare children for elementary school. “The first years of a child’s life are a crucial period of development” (Gadzikowski, A., 2013). During the first five years, children are developing socially, emotionally, and cognitively. When children learn at an early age they are developing skills for life. Early learning also helps to build trust with others outside of their family. The leader of a preschool program has many different responsibilities. One thing a leader must do is to interact in a positive way with children, families, and staff. A leader has to be able to communicate clearly with people. The leader is responsible for hiring the staff and making sure they are qualified to work with children. The person must also be able to communicate clearly all the goals of a preschool to the staff and families. The leader must always be up to date on all state regulations. It is the responsibility of the leader of the preschool to ensure that the children and staff are in a safe learning environment. The leader of a preschool must also be able to maintain the daily running of the center. They must be able to prioritize the tasks that must be done daily.  My first priority of being a leader would be the health and safety of the children and the staff. By ensuring that all the policies and procedures are being followed. Next, I would take time to communicate with the teachers to make sure thay have everything they need in the classroom. I would also make sure that I am keeping up with the families in a monthly newsletter. I would also make sure to take time everyday to check that the center was up to date on all policies and procedures.     Student 3 – Kim– 70 words response   Early childhood is essential for all children from the age of newborn to school age. The first five years are the most important years of a child’s learning development. (Gadzikowski, A. (2013). Many children spend a lot of time in early childhood education in the first five years of their lives. It sets the stage for their success in learning and plays a big part in their future. Many childcare facilities will play a big role in teaching children social, emotional, cognitive, and problem-solving skills. We are setting these children up for success with the skills they learn in their early years of education. Many children are impacted by their early childhood teachers and have a bond well into their older years. My responsibilities as an early childhood educator are to help the children reach their age-appropriate milestones and give them the tools to advance to the next milestones level. My lesson plans will have to meet the standards of early childhood education guidelines.  They will follow our school readiness goals. By doing both, the children will become ready to go to kindergarten and succeed. We have a responsibility to make them feel safe and feel like they belong. By building relationships with their parents and children, it will make the relationship. Giving children the individual attention and setting and meeting those individual goals for these children will give them success in future educational journeys. Please make a difference and let them know they are an important part of our lives. Priorities as an early childhood educator, are making the child and their parents to feel welcomed and part of our room. Making sure they know they matter. Communication with the parents and staff is a big part of building relationships with all. Getting their input and working together when it comes to their children.
