You have 6 Journal entries to make. You can write about a lot of different topics (more info/examples below). But you want a couple journal prompts: Prompt 1 – Media overload can happy very easy today. Have you experienced any media overload? Prompt 2 – Are we too reactive about little things that we see or hear about on social media? Prompt 3 – Social media is great for connecting. What would you do if a local politician asked you for your opinion through social media? (I mean actually just you, not a blanket ask everyone.) Prompt 4 – How do you see politics and the next elections, coming up in 2018 changing because of social media? Prompt 5 – Have you seen any fake news in your social feeds? Prompt 6 – There has been a polarizing of politics in social media. How do you respond? Do you make your voice heard, try to understand what others think, block/remove those that are extreme? Or some combination? READ THIS: Below is information about the journals. Some relevant topics to write about include a personal experience, film/song/art, something you read about in the news or something that is happening in pop culture. You may also write specifically about a class concept, reading or discussion. If you are referencing a website/article/video/book/etc, you should use APA citations. Word makes this very easy to do. Your journal entry needs to be at least two paragraphs long, be dated, and reflect a rigorous and critical engagement with the material. Example of an idea for a journal entry: You saw a news clip about women and plastic surgery and want to journal about your struggle with body image. Better example of an idea for a journal entry: You saw a news clip about women and plastic surgery and use our in-class discussions on the concept of symbolic interactionism to discuss the social impact of images like these.
