I had to overcome so many obstacles the first one being English and the second is financial hardship. My first language is French. It took lots of hard work and dedication to be able to learn college-level English in less than a year. Additionally, I had to classes as soon as possible to be able to graduate to reduce costs, all that while working to support my expenses.Throughout this process, I have grown to learn the importance of being organized. What did you do or not do? Did you rectify this situation? What did you learn?A few years ago, I worked under an authoritarian supervisor. I noticed that 2 hours of work were missing. I tried understanding what happened, she lost her temper and called a meeting in the lab where she stated that she is making lunch break mandatory and she cut my time as an example to my coworkers because I didn’t take 4 breaks that week. No prior warning. I was upset, yet feared losing my job so I didn’t talk to HR or her superior. A year later she was getting evaluated and I brought this topic not clearly disclosing that it happened to me and it turned out it was illegal to tamper employee timesheets and breaks weren’t mandatory just suggested by the state.
