The topic includes not only death related circumstances, but also non-death related circumstances. Emotions of a grief and loss situation range from deep despair to anger, and ones processes of adapting to those emotions are dependent on a number of factors. Counseling is intended to help the client understand the accompanying emotions and help him or her grieve in a healthy manner. The Bible gives comfort to the brokenhearted and guidelines for how Christian counselors should offer support, hope, and patience as clients process grief and loss. It seems as though the world needs hope now more than ever in these unprecedented times of confusion and suffering. Marriages have always struggled with varying issues, but divorce appears to be more prevalent in society today. Families are dividing, loved ones becoming estranged. Death, due to any number of reasons, is frequent and widespread. The probable lack of adequately educated Christian counseling professionals leaves many to maneuver grief and loss processes on their own.The paper associated with this proposal hopes to aid in a better understanding of the different forms of grief and loss as well as the emotions that accompany them. The positive and negative impacts Christianity has on those suffering will also be discussed. Finally, it will examine how Christian Counseling theories associated with the topic are applied to the treatment of those attempting to navigate the processes of grief and loss.
