Exsistential Therapy
Students will be responsible for using cognitive behavioral therapy (cbt). Students are responsible for articulating their observations, clinical impressions, and understanding of the key issues of the client. Counseling goals and appropriate interventions should be identified within the context of the theory selected. The following must be included in the paper: 1. Overview of major assumptions of the evidence based theory/model you have chosen. 2. Initial assessment of client. How do you understand the presenting issues and the client’s strengths and challenges as seen through the theory/model? (Be sure to address all 3 of these). 3. Goals of counseling based on the client’s presenting problem and your theory of choice. Answer the following questions: 1) What are the goals of counseling, based on your theory? And, 2) What are specific treatment goals you would recommend for your client through the lens of your theory/model. Be sure to write SMART goals(Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely). 4. Discuss the therapeutic procedure and techniques appropriate for this client based on the theory/model. 5. What are the strengths and limitations of the theory/model of counseling you have chosen in light of the client’s gender, race, SES, physical/intellectual/health ability, sexual orientation, religion, and ethnicity? (You must address each of these, even if an identity is not known, there should be a statement on each aspect of identity in relation to how the theory/model aligns with that identity.). (It is highly recommended that you use scholarly sources here to support your work; you cannot just say the theory is good for all races without supporting that with a source). 6. How does this theory/model suit your values, preferred style, skills, and development? Students must use at least 5 scholarly sources to support their work (see details within course on what counts as scholarly sources). APA (7thed.) style should be followed. The paper should be a minimum of 10 pages in length (not including title and reference pages).
