Election Security and Voting Rights
For this assignment, you have to “participate in a debate by addressing one side of a current policy issue. Read the material related to the policy issue and then select either the Yes or No position at the end of each chapter. Your assignment is to defend your selected position. To get the most credit for this requirement of the course, you will need to move beyond the points presented in the Yes or No position in the Issues for Debate book. As you prepare your position, you can use information presented the reading for that issue as well as any outside material. There are references for each issue that you can use to obtain additional background information. As we move forward in the course I will be looking for you to include information from the course readings and lectures related, for example, to budgeting, implementation, etc. The quality of writing will also affect the points you receive. So, please work on sentence and paragraph structure. Also, in presenting your response essay think about the overall organization. Remember that are not just submitting an assignment but being an advocate for your position. Finally, be careful to support any positions you make with logic, argument or citations. Your response must be at least one page (one inch margins, double spaced, 12 font) and no more than 3 pages. Type in a Word Document and then Copy and Paste it into the discussion text box in Canvass.
