Dyslexia is a reading disorder, one that does not result from the general visual, motor, or intellectual deficits. As a future professional in the field of psychology, you will more than likely work with an individual that is impacted by this disorder because of the prevalence in society. List one past research study, which is no longer considered correct, that supported dyslexia was not a brain disorder. Define and differentiate between the two fundamental types of dyslexia. Describe the causes and neural mechanisms of developmental dyslexia. Describe the difference between the lexical procedure and the phonetic procedure for reading aloud. Define and give examples of surface dyslexia and deep dyslexia.
