DNP Program Applicant Personal Statement A personal statement is an account of your actions that demonstrate your commitment to accountability, professionalism, and compassion for the ill. Write a 2-3 page essay (excluding the cover page). It should be typed using 12-point font, double-spaced, a minimum 500 words and no more than 1500 words. Be sure to address each question below in detail: Share your experiences in nursing and how it relates to the role of the Doctor of Nursing Practice. Please include your own personal values, previous experiences, and future goals. I am a Vice President of Quality and Clinical Operations. In this role I am responsible for the creation and implementation of nursing care and wellness strategies, policies, processes and programs across the company’s portfolio of more than 60 communities in five states. My role involves strategic planning to ensure seamless delivery of comprehensive, coordinated health services for senior living residents. Key responsibilities include expansion of clinical education and quality programs while also overseeing compliance with state regulatory bodies in the five states where the company operates. Prior to joining my current company I served as the Vice President of Health and Wellness with a Texas based senior living company. I have served in leadership and nursing roles over the past 20 years. My prior assignments have included nurse regulatory surveyor for the State of Texas Health & Human Services; regional program director and faculty member for Kaplan Higher Education; and evaluator for the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). I began my her career as an emergency room/trauma nurse at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center. 1. Describe your expertise in a specific field of study (nursing, patient care, etc.). 2. Describe your understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a Doctor of Nursing Practice to include the scope of practice. a successful DNP will possess an advancing knowledge of how to improve nursing practice. Because the nursing field is in a constant state of flux, DNPs are charged with staying abreast of these changes. At the same time, they must possess the acumen required to integrate new initiatives in an economically feasible way that does not compromise the goal of improving patient outcomes. 3. Discuss your professional goals and how a DNP Degree will help you achieve your goals. Executive leadership. The first of these skills is executive leadership. Those who successfully complete a DNP curriculum are groomed to be leaders in advanced nursing practice. They are often charged with synthesizing their nursing expertise into sustainable, innovative care programs that carry a positive impact on patient health. 4. I will be completing my MSN in March 2021 and the experience has been nothing short of excellent. My professors all have a variety of experiences and skill sets that are essential to the MSN program.
