Distinguishing between Acclimation and Adaptation
Acclimation and adaptation are common terms used when describing populations. For novice biologists, acclimation and adaptation are commonly confused. This confusion is made worse because acclimation and adaptation have different meanings in everyday language. Use your knowledge of natural selection to describe what adaptations are and how they result. Contrast acclimations to adaptations and describe the conditions that allow for acclimations to develop. It may help you to frame your argument if you start by constructing a paragraph for yourself that says: Before reading my paper, my reader will think X. After reading my paper, my reader will think y. Your summary should be typed in Times New Roman 12-pt font and be one-and-a-half-spaced with 1 margins.
