Disability Studies and Ageing Lens Review

Assessment criteria :  Reviews the type of care currently provided using a critical disability studies and ageing lens and relate it to the policy context within which this care is being provided. Provides 2 recommendations for change for each case study that would be more inclusive of the voice of the individuals in each scenario and their goals and aspirations. Demonstrates critical understanding of the content and readings. Expresses ideas without any errors (spelling, grammar, typos, etc.) and uses scholarly referencing. Communicates information in an organised, structured and logical manner.   Assessment Instructions Working with each of the scenarios presented (that is, one individual living with disability and one experiencing ageing): Develop a checklist for each, of what you consider to be essential non-negotiable approaches to service delivery and practice, linked to concepts from this and other courses in your program. Provide a brief appraisal of what you consider to be the most devaluing and stigmatising current experiences and support responses for the individual Using the checklist, describe what you would be seeking to facilitate, in order to achieve a reduction in devaluation and the stigma of each individual. Identify and recommend 2 areas or life goals where you would advocate for change on behalf of the individual in one of the two presented case studies. Explain why your checklist and advocacy for such services and supports could contribute to a ‘good life’. Link your recommendations to readings from the first six weeks from this course and any other relevant resources and literature from previous courses or library databases. Include a minimum of 8 scholarly references in addition to any web sources you might reference. Please note: You will present two responses, that is, a response for each of the two Case Studies below. The word limit for this assessment is 1500 words total (750 words for each case study)
