Programmer Analyst Job Duties:
? Programs the computer by encoding project requirements in computer language; entering coded
information into the computer.
? Design, develop, document, analyze, create, test and modify computer systems, programs and
integrations.
? Maintains computer systems and programming guidelines by writing and updating policies and
procedures.
? Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing
professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
? Responsible for loading, validating, documenting, managing, and analyzing data for both internal and
collaborative research projects.
? Responsible for assisting with data storage and management issues around both new and ongoing
projects within the Division.
? Responsible for working with other staff within the Division to help specify appropriate analytical data
files.
? Responsible for creating and carefully documenting all derived analytical data files so that they can be
understood and used by other members of the team.
? Works with team to implement the appropriate data analyses in SAS for a particular study. Uses
additional statistical packages (S-Plus, Stata, etc.), or other high level programming languages as
appropriate.
? Documents and archives all aspects of analyses and data management.
? Assist with orientation and training of Systems Analysts and Data Management / Project Management
personnel as determined by management.
Qualification:
? BS in computer sciences or related field; MS in computer sciences related field helpful.
? Strong SAS programming skills required in Windows & UNIX environment with proficiency in
SAS/Base, SAS Macros, SAS/Graph, SAS/SQL.
? Experience in writing SAS tools and developing generic SAS programs.
? Knowledge of working in SAS Grid environment with experience in SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Data
Integration Studio, SAS Studio is a plus.
? Good understanding of relational databases such as ORACLE, Knowledge of the EDC system, InForm,
and underlying data structure is desirable.
