Current Event Assignment

Current Event Assignment Instructions:   It is important for us to be aware of the events going on in the world today. These current events will need to be focused on the US government, politics, public policy, etc. (not sports or entertainment). Some of the best places to find political news are: Politico, NPR, the Associated Press, Reuter, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Atlantic, Factcheck.org, Politifact, PBS Newshour and any of the ABC, NBC or CBS national news sites. Use one of these resources to complete the following items:   Summary: Write a summary paragraph in your own words about the article. A paragraph should be at least 4-5 sentences.   Significance and Connection: Write a paragraph discussing why you chose this article and how it is important to our class. How does this article connect to a theme in our class (constitution, federalism, elections, public policy, etc.)? A paragraph should be at least 4-5 sentences.   Two questions and opinion: What are 2 questions you have about the article? What is your opinion of the issue discussed in the article? Write another 4-5 sentence paragraph about these issues.   Reference: Cite the article using proper citation form. Make sure you include the direct link to the article.    This needs to be a current event (so within the last year).    Questions to answer: Who, what, when, what, and why.
