Use these materials to help you identify the tribe you could partner with based on your school/district location. Identify and explore a set of STI lesson activities and resources at your grade level (or choose a grade level of interest if you are not currently teaching K-12). Follow the links included on the next page to the level of choice (i.e., Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, or High School). Respond (2 parts): You will write a reflection paper (2-3 double-spaced pages) reflecting on at least 3 of the prompts below related to the materials explored at your grade level. Feel free to include reflections that go beyond these prompts. Begin your reflection with a very brief description of the STI unit lesson activities and why you selected that lesson. What did you learn about Indigenous history/education by exploring the STI lesson? What other knowledge/resources would you need besides those provided? How can these lessons help teacher decolonize the classroom? What new knowledge did you learn by analyzing STI curriculum unit lesson activities? How did this assignment impact your own biases and understandings about Indigenous education? How does this assignment help develop, if at all, a professional practice of cultural humility? You will choose one of the following for the second part. For either choice, select a stakeholder in your school district or institution as your intended audience. Consider your own position (e.g., teacher, future administrator, parent, college/university employee, etc.) when choosing your audience. Write a persuasive letter directed to a stakeholder in your local district or institution. Your letter will aim to briefly educate the reader about the STI resources available and to recommend that this curriculum be implemented. Your letter will draw on information available in the STI resources and include a convincing argument as to the importance of this curriculum. You may use additional resources or include links in your letter. OR Create an informative and detailed visual directed to a stakeholder (e.g., brochure, poster, detailed infographic). Your aim should be to inform and persuade your audience of the importance of the STI curriculum. Sufficient detail should be included to be persuasive.
