Christian and psychological
This 5-7 page paper offers the student an opportunity to explore similarities and differences between Christian and psychological views of behaviors that are commonly seen as immoral. Possible topics include the following: alcohol/drug use, gambling, pornography/sexual promiscuity/adultery, overeating, laziness/procrastination, angry outbursts, theft, or pridefulness. The organization of the paper can vary but the paper must address views on conceptualizations, causes, and solutions from both a psychological and a Christian perspective. Psychological perspectives Conceptualizations: Diagnostic considerations; consequences of the behavior. Causes: Biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors that might be considered; Psychological theories relevant to the problem. Solutions: Medications and types of therapy recommended. Christian perspectives Conceptualizations: Scriptural references; spiritual consequences of the behavior; commission vs. omission. Causes: Theological factors to consider, such as original sin, moral vs. natural evil, etc. Solutions: Pastoral recommendations (what would a pastor suggest?), Spiritual intercession, etc.
