Children’s Book Analysis
Include: A Title Page, An Abstract,A Main Body of 1,500 words, including all six content sections and an introduction paragraph, In-text Citations, A Reference Page Requirements Include all of the following content areas in your paper:1.Summary of the book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viors (not an evaluation of the content of the book; not your opinions about the book) 2. Biography of the author 3. Discuss the book with regard to Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory of Development. Be sure to include answers to the following questions: What developmental stage is your selected childrens book geared toward? Support your choice with information from your sources. Describe the main points of your chosen theory of development. Discuss how the childrens book relates to the readers of the childrens book, based on your understanding of the developmental theory. Based on the theory, what are children reading your chosen book learning from the book? How is this impacting their development? 4. Discuss gender typing with regard to your selected book. Describe the concept in your own words. Using examples from your chosen book, describe how males and females are represented. Are characters portrayed in gender-stereotyped roles? Are males and females equally represented in exciting plot activities? Are the behaviors, attitudes, and characteristics of male and female characters strongly gender stereotyped?Be sure to include roles given to the characters, actions / behaviors, and apparel in the illustrations.5.What is it about the specific childrens book you chose that appeals and engages young learners? What is it about the characters, the themes and messages of the book, or the language used that appeals to children? What keeps the child engaged when reading your book?6. Based on what you have learned about child development, review the book for a parent or caregiver. Would you recommend it? Why or why not? Write the 600-750- word essay (500 words for the two content areas/250 words each, and 100 – 250 words for the Abstract) which includes: The Abstract for the Final Paper. This is a short summary/overview of all the main points of the paper: all six required content areas of the paper, and any conclusions you’ve reached. Note that the Abstract should be on its own page with a heading (not bolded). Note the tense (present tense) used and content of the Abstract (it is not an intro or a teaser for the paper).
