the website chosen to redesign: https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/ (please refer back to the website to answer essay questions there are 4 parts to the project: 1. the needs analysis 2. the design document 3. Graphic design and HTML5/CSS3 Coding (60% of mark) (The redesigned website) 4. Usability testing Please work on part 1 and 2 only! & do NOT do the sitemap diagram section in the design document part The document uploaded is a full description of the project and has been uploaded with the purpose of understanding the project overall and knowing what is required in order to write the essay with a full understanding of what the project is about. I would also like to provide samples of other student’s work on this project (specifically the essay) in order for the writer to have a better understanding of what is required 1) Details of the merged documentation with table of contents: 1) The needs analysis one page (550-800 words) outlining the reasons for your choice of website 2) The design document must contain the following 5 sections in addition to the needs analysis: Purpose of site · Overview of the client (who they are and what they sell) · Project goals (overview of what you plan to develop) · Target audience of the website Sitemap diagram (NOT REQUIRED) · Show the main pages of the site · Show the relationship between pages · Show the structure of your main navigation Design concepts · Proposed logo design for the company · Description or illustration of site design and colour scheme · Diagrams (Photoshop) illustrating the content layout for 3 major pages Technical specifications · Software and technologies used to develop the site · Proposed organisation of site files and folders · Testing procedures to ensure that the site meets quality standards Contract · Summary of services you are providing to the client · Quoted price with a breakdown based on services provided · Final date of delivery Each of the five sections should be at least 1 page long. Each section will be marked based on quality, not quantity. You are encouraged to use diagrams where necessary to illustrate your ideas. Marks will be awarded based on the extent of research and the level of professionalism displayed in the document and accompanying material. All written parts of this assignment must be merged in a single PDF with a table of contents provided for ease of navigation.
OBJECT 1: DIAGRAM ASSIGNMENT PROJECT DESCRIPTION Basic diagrams are often the basis for designing in many of the Digital Media and Web Technology specializations. Your task will be to create a diagram using the illustration tools including the use of typography, curves, fills, and strokes. Create any diagram of your own. If you do not know what diagram to create you may pick one from the following list: Web page diagram, Print layout, Design flow chart, Server configuration, City map, Metro map, flowchart, infographic (see examples below): PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 1. Use Adobe Illustrator 2. Apply fills and strokes 3. Add Text 4. Use drawing tools from the tool panel to design your own icons to use in the diagram. Icons are simple visual representations of things that are generally more complex. Click here for an example. Depending on what type of diagram you are planning to create, you will need to design icons on your own to use in your diagram (as in the “thumbs up” icon from this weeks tutorial). 5. Apply transforming objects (resize, rotate, reflect, shear, duplicate, copy/paste, etc.) 6. Save file as .pdf and submit both .ai and .pdf files Resource(s): Examples that you may use as a guideline for the assignment: 50-informative-and-well-designed-infographics 50 Design Inspirations for 8 types of Infographic OBJECT 2: LOGO ASSIGNMENT OBJECTIVE The purpose of this project is to demonstrate your understanding of the following course concepts: PROJECT DESCRIPTION Your logo or brand has got to be much more than just a corporate badge or a simple recognizable, memorable mark. It needs to reflect who you are, what your business is and even how you work. The logo designers creativity and imagination are the integral parts in the logo design process, the client can describe what they want, and the designer has to visualize it. He or she has to create a high impact creative brand that has to not only work on screen, but also for a variety of media, like posters, signage, letterheads and even for apparel. Your task is to design a logo for your own organization to use for a letterhead (8.5 x 11), business cards (3.5 x 2), a poster (Poster size = 24″ X 36″ with your logo sized at 4 x 6), and a website (Logo sized at 1.5 x 2 on a webpage layout sized 15″ X 10″). The sizes are suggested size, which can be modified as appropriate. You may pick any type of business or organization to create the design of your logo using Adobe Illustrator (CS5 or Higher). You are required to follow the requirements below. You will be submitting one file that contains multiple (4) artboards based on the above sizes. For further study in preparation for creating your logo designs, consider reading feedback from some of today’s design leaders on what not to do, when creating a logo! Read the HOW Magazine article on 6 Things to Avoid When Designing a Logo here. -WEB PAGE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 1. Use a recent version of Adobe Illustrator. 2. Use multiple artboards (4) at a specific size (referenced above) for a variety of items. 3. Use Gradient. 4. Create a drop shadow. 5. Apply Gradients to Strokes. 6. Save file as .pdf and submit both .ai and .pdf files. OBJECT 3: LOGO ASSIGNMENT OBJECTIVE The purpose of this project is to demonstrate your understanding of the following course concepts: OBJECT DESCRIPTION In this assignment, you will use the perspective grid and the perspective selection tool to draw objects in perspective. You will be designing a 3D cubic box with 2 different artworks. One on the left plane and one on the right plane. You are required to create 2 different artworks to use to snap on the left and right planes and follow the requirements below. 1. Click here to watch a short tutorial on how to build the perspective assignment’s “box”. (Raser) 2. Visual examples can be found in attached PDF here. 3. Linked here is a great Adobe tutorial on creating abstract Meshwork. A fun & informative learning tool! As things do get a little tricky when trying to create artwork on the perspective grid itself, I’ve outlined one of the best solutions below. 1. Create an open rectangle on the plane (side of the perspective box) you want to use. Make this box without a fill color, but with a black 1pt stroke so you can see it. 2. Apply the rectangle to the perspective grid. 3. Place the gradient mesh behind (or “under” in the layers panel) the rectangle and select both objects at the same time. 4. Choose Object > Envelope Distort > make with Top Object. 5. Make sure to not have any “background shapes” chosen or they will get distorted as well. Lastly, this video gives a great step-by-step how-to for mapping your artwork or text to your perspective grid as well: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-illustrator-cs5/mapping-flat-artwork-to-the-perspective-grid/. WEB PAGE HAS ERROR MESSAGE -SA PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 1. Use a recent version of Adobe Illustrator. 2. Use perspective grid to create a “box” that has at least 2 planes to build artwork on. 3. Use perspective selection tool to select appropriate planes to change and build. 4. Left panel artwork must be created using Envelopes Warp tool. 5. Right panel artwork must be created using (Gradient) Mesh tool. 6. Snap artwork on left panel (keeping proper perspective with your 3D box). 7. Snap artwork on right panel (keeping proper perspective with your 3D box). 8. Save file as .pdf and submit both .ai and .pdf files. NOTE: All 3 objective must be all themed together (example World of Warcraft: King, Lion, Castle
