Purpose The purpose of this paper is to research a historical sports figure and their contributions to sports history.  Description Write a five (5) page paper about a national or international historical sport figure. This historical sport figure should be an individual who may be unknown to many but has contributed to the history of sport. Your historical figure can be a former coach, athlete, administrator, sports advocate, sportswriter/broadcaster, etc. The following information must be included in the paper Basic demographic information Career information Obstacles faced Accomplishments made Their importance to sports history Your reasons for selecting them The societal context surrounding the figure & their contributions A minimum of five (7) credible references Remember this paper must be in APA format for citations, font, spacing, margins and headers. No title page is required.

Write a brief methods section in which you describe four characteristics in four subsections about your proposed study. The first subsection (Subjects) describes the population from which you plan to sample and all relevant sampling considerations. The second subsection (Design) should describe the general research design you plan to use: Experimental, ex post facto, correlational, participant-observer, historical, etc. Include a statement suggesting which data analysis method you would propose (e.g., ANOVA, multiple regression, grounded theory, etc.). Make sure that your design is consistent with your stated research question and hypotheses. For example, if you are interested in exploring group differences or experimental effects, the research question and hypotheses should be written in the language of contrast. If you are interested in exploring some phenomena in significant depth using qualitative methods, your research should be stated consistently with that approach. There is no specific organization that must be followed in completing the paper. This will be left up to the good judgment and creativity of each student. The topic must pertain to some aspect of sport that affects sport managers. I expect this presentation to be “cutting edge” information. This is NOT a just a report on a topic. I want the most recent most up-to-date information. The paper MUST be in the form of a “case study”. The definition I have adopted is “a case study is a research method that provides an in-depth, multi-faceted understanding of a complex topic in its real-world context. It is an established research design that is used extensively in a wide variety of disciplines, including sport management”. In other words a case study is a puzzle that must be solved. The first thing to remember about presenting a case study is that the case should have a problem for the viewers to solve. The case should have enough information in it that viewers can understand what the problem is and, after thinking about it and analyzing the information, the viewers should be able to come up with a proposed solution. Creating an interesting case study is a bit like writing a detective story. You want to keep your readers very interested in the situation.

I will be pursuing my Masters in Sports Management at Texas A&M University.  I will earn my Bachelors in Sports Management Dec 2020 from Texas A&M University.  My career goal is to become a sports agent.  I am choosing this career path because I have been involved in sports since I was 8 years old.  Track and Field is the sport that I concentrated in and received a athletic scholarship to attend college, Texas A&M University.  Both of my parents were also scholarship recipients and both participated in track and field at division one school.  Their is a high demand for African-American Women in this field, per one of the top sports agencies in Indiana.   I have experience as an athlete, assistant coach, sports administrator, and a recent internship with Texas State Softball Championship and Southwest Regional Showcase, held at Parks & Recreation of Bryan/ College Station, Texas.
