Behavioral Intervention Plan

Behavioural Assessment and Analysis The graduate accurately uses daily measurement and other assessments of behaviour (e.g., Functional Behavior Assessment) and the systematic investigation of important variables of behaviour to identify and record problem behaviours and changes in behaviour. 631.3.2: Behavior Management and Intervention The graduate accurately applies the theory and principles of behaviour and applied behavioural analysis, as well as important variables of behaviour, to effectively intervene, initiate, maintain, and generalize behaviour change. INTRODUCTION The behavioural management of students within inclusive settings is dependent on many variables in the classroom design. The physical arrangement of the room, an effective grouping of students, stimulation of cooperative learning situations, and the use of clear and consistent rules and routines can contribute to the success of inclusive classrooms. Teachers who can plan instruction and design classrooms effectively can minimize behavioural challenges and conflicts. In this task, you will develop a behavioural intervention plan (BIP) based on a provided case study and Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) data. You must read through the “Case Study: Rodney” and “Case Study: Bonnie” web links below and select one student’s case study from which to create your BIP. There is no set format for your responses in this task; however, as you apply your knowledge of Functional Behavior Assessments and behavioural intervention plans to real-world settings, your individual districts or states may require specific formats. REQUIREMENTS Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. An originality report is provided when you submit your task that can be used as a guide.   You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.   Complete this task based on your chosen case study:   A. Choose one target behaviour from your chosen case study’s Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and do the following: 1. Describe the target behaviour. 2. Determine the trigger(s) or antecedent(s) for the target behaviour. 3. Identify the function of the target behaviour. 4. Identify one consequence for the target behaviour.   B. Develop a BIP for the behaviour identified in part A, by doing the following 1. Recommend one replacement behaviour to replace the target behaviour. a. Justify the recommended replacement behaviour, using scholarly sources or course materials. 2. Recommend one positive intervention to increase the replacement behaviour. a. Justify the recommended positive intervention to increase the replacement behaviour, using scholarly sources or course materials. 3. Recommend two instructional strategies to teach a replacement behaviour. a. Justify the recommended instructional strategies to teach replacement behaviour, using scholarly sources or course materials. 4. Determine two accommodations or modifications that should be included in the BIP. a. Explain how your accommodations or modifications support the student.   C. Describe a data collection tool you would use to document the student’s progress in using the replacement behaviour from part B1, based on your chosen case study.   D. Identify all individuals involved in the implementation of the BIP (e.g., student, teacher, parent, or others, if applicable). 1. Explain the responsibilities of each individual who has a role in the implementation of the BIP. a. Explain how the student and parents/guardians will be involved in the implementation of the BIP.   E. Acknowledge sources, using APA-formatted in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.   F. Demonstrate professional communication in the content and presentation of your submission.

Organization and Program Development

Grants come from organizations, not individuals. The Organizational Capacity Assessment is closely connected to the final proposal. Your task is to serve the organization &  examine the organization for which you will write the program/grant proposal. This will help determine the capacity of the organization to seek new funding to expand its services through a grant. You may choose any agency or organization you wish, but it should be one with which you have a connection and interest, as your program proposal will come from this organization.     The primary tasks of this assignment are to understand the organization better and to assess the organization’s capacity to carry out a proposed program. Much of the descriptive information you gather will also be included in the proposal, so quality work is to your benefit. You are encouraged to utilize online resources, agency brochures and/or annual reports, and interviews with clients, staff, and supervisors in order to obtain the needed information. Thus, you want to write in an academic narrative format, with citations as necessary, as opposed to a personal opinion paper, or simply answering the questions. (Note that questions 4 c& d may be your opinion, but make sure it is an INFORMED opinion – that is an opinion backed up with some kind of data.).   If you plan to focus on a large organization with many units (for example, a hospital or county social services department), you may begin with a brief overview of the large setting but focus the analysis on a particular unit within the larger organization.   Your 5-7 page report should include:   A basic description of the organization: What is the name of your organization? What are the mission and vision of the organization? What are the goals and objectives of the organization? What is the organization’s legal auspice? Does the organization have a strategic plan? What are the organization’s program goals for the future?   A description of the existing structure and services of the organization: What is the history of the organization? What client population or populations does the organization serve? What services or programs does the organization provide? What is the administrative structure of the organization? (Provide an organizational chart) How many staff members work at the organization? How are the programs funded? List all funding sources by the program. (provide a representative list)   A description of the organization’s relationship to its environment: What niche does the organization or program fill in the community (what needs does the agency address)? Are there other organizations in the area that also provide these same services? (note – be brief here!) What is the demographic composition (# or % by age, race, income, gender) of the clients at the organization? What is the demographic composition (# or % by age, race, income, gender) of the staff at the organization? With which collaborating organizations or agencies does your organization work to provide services?   An analysis of the organization’s ability to optimally function and adapt to change. How well does the agency serve the identified goals and objectives? Does the agency actually meet its mission? What are the primary strengths of the organization and the organization’s capacity to develop a new program? What are the current challenges facing the organization?   Your report should include necessary citations in APA format for all references (e.g. web pages, manuals, pamphlets, etc.).

Gender Socialization

For this assignment, you will provide an in-depth sociological analysis of your gender socialization. Apply what C. Wright Mills called the sociological imagination to an analysis of your own experiences with gender socialization. Consider how they were shaped by social institutions and historical forces. Some of the questions you might consider are: What are some of the ways in which you are/were socialized into an “appropriate” gender role? How has that impacted your life, your work, or your family relations? How did various social institutions (e.g. your family, mass media, religious institutions, educational institutions, sports, etc.) shape your gender identity? How do these institutions shape gender identity in general, outside of your own experiences? Why do we place such great importance on “proper” gender role behavior? How does society deal with people who violate gender norms? How does gender socialization shape who we become as individuals? Your paper will be evaluated on its structure as well as its content. It should have an introductory paragraph with a thesis statement. The thesis statement makes clear what the main issue of your paper is. The body should be organized around the key points that support your thesis and provide examples to illustrate how your experience was shaped by social institutions. Use this as a rule of thumb: One idea per sentence, one topic per paragraph. The final paragraph is where you draw conclusions from the material presented in the body of your paper (not a summary). Drive home the main idea presented in your thesis. It is important you include in-text attributions consistently through this paper, especially when trying to key terms from our readings and your supplemental resource. Be sure to cite the textbook and one peer-reviewed sociological article in the paper. This APA style paper is worth 100 points. The body of your paper should be no less than 1,000 words in length.
