Protestant Reformation

Question: In the essay “The Impact of the Protestant Reformation,” there is much discussion of the individual now being able to study Scripture for himself or herself. This not only affected their view of the church but also the state. How has this influenced how we in America today view freedom, government, and rights? Discuss how specific ideas of the Reformation can be traced to America’s specific founding documents and laws regarding our views of freedom, government, and rights. (275-350 words) This quote from John Adams gives us a great view of our Constitution and it’s the foundation. “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other “. For more information on Protestant Reformation read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protestant_Reformation

Asia Pacific

You will be expected to write a research paper investigating some aspect of economic, political, or social relations in a state of the Asia Pacific. We will discuss this process throughout the semester, but it is important for you to get an early start to produce a high-quality product. Points will be deducted for poor writing, bad organization, weak substance, illogical argumentation, or other errors that reduce the quality of your work.  Similarly, points can be added for skillful writing, clear organization, strong substance, solid logical argumentation, and other quality-enhancing elements. Please use Arial 12 point font for your paper.  You may use APA, MLA, or Chicago Manual style. The more quality resources you use, the better your paper will be.  Including books by scholars that are at the cutting edge of research in your field of investigation is important to your success.  For example, if you were doing research in orientalism, it might be important to include Edward Said in your bibliography. I will evaluate you using the following criteria: Is your writing clear, concise, comprehensive, engaging, and grammatically correct? Does your research rely on a sufficient depth and breadth of quality resources? Is your thesis falsifiable and do you muster sufficient evidence and logic to justify your conclusions? Some topic areas you might consider include: What role does ethnicity play in the politics of a given Asian Pacific country? How does the film, fiction, or art represent economic, political, or social trends in a given Asian Pacific country? How do debates about the teaching of history reflect current economic, political, and or social trends? What has been the path of democratization or economic development in a given Asian Pacific country? How does ideology impact the economy, politics, and society of a given Asian Pacific country? How does corruption influence the economy, politics, and society of a given Asian Pacific country? What role do global justice concerns play in the economy, politics, and society of a given Asian Pacific country? What role do environmental concerns play in the economy, politics, and society of a given Asian Pacific country? How do geopolitical concerns impact the politics of the various states in the region? Concept of Culture

Overdue – December 10 at 11:59 PM During this second week, we will focus on the concept of culture and all its components. After you have read the reading assignment and lecture for this week, please respond to all parts of the discussion by the due date assigned: What are the top ten American values as found in the text? Which ones do you embrace and why? Are there any you reject, and if so, why? What three values would you add to the list if you could? Why are the values you would add not already in the top ten? What are the five symbols that represent America? Do they also represent other components of culture, such as material objects or values? Consider the concept of cultural lag. Identify two American values that are “lagging.” What are three norms that are lagging? How does cultural lagging relate to the Westernization that is happening in other countries? Components of Culture

Week 2 ProjectAssignment  Overdue – Last Sun at 11:59 PM Assignment Overview For this assignment you will learn what makes each culture and subculture unique. Sociologists use the “components of culture” in order to identify cultures and subcultures. The components of culture are language, material objects, behaviors, and symbols. For this assignment, you will use existing resources to compare and contrast two different cultures or subcultures. Information about the components of culture and different cultures/subcultures can be found using the textbook, online materials, and the South University Online Library. Below you will find a step-by-step guide for completing this paper: Make certain you have read the chapter “Culture,” in Sociology in our Times. Choose two separate cultures or subcultures to compare and contrast. Examples could be India and the United States or Gothics and Emos. Once you decide which cultures/subcultures you will research, use relevant keywords in your library search. Compare and contrast these two cultures/subcultures, specifically analyzing the components of culture (language, material objects, behaviors, and symbols.) Be sure to include an introduction with a thesis, the conclusion that reviews all main points you present, and an integration of your personal views on the topic. Remember to use APA format for the essay style as well as in-text citations and when listing the references. Submit your 2–5-page essay (maximum 12 pt. font) describing your application project and your findings to the Submissions area. Conceptualization

As you have read, theory guides the conceptualization of the client’s problem and how social workers assess and intervene relatively to the problem. However, theory can also shape the self-reflective questions social workers ask themselves. Clients often come to social workers under stress or distress. This then affects how the social worker responds and thus the client-social worker relationship. As a result, Foley, Nash, and Munford (2009) employed attachment theory as a “lens in which to view the reflective process itself and to gain greater understanding and empathy for what each social worker within each unique social work-client relationship can access of that relationship for reflection” (pp. 44). This week, you will apply attachment theory to the case study of Tifanni Bradley. In other words, your theoretical orientation—or lens—is attachment theory as you analyze the case study. To prepare: Use the “Dissecting a Theory and Its Application to a Case Study” worksheet to help you dissect the theory. You do not need to submit this handout. It is a tool for you to use to dissect the theory, and then you can employ the information in the table to complete your assignment. Review attachment theory and the following article listed in the Learning Resources: Foley, M., Nash, M., & Munford, R. (2009). Bringing practice into theory: Reflective practice and attachment theory. Aotearoa New Zealand Social Work Review, 21(1/2), p39–47. Retrieved http://dx.doi.org/10.11157/anzswj-vol21iss1-2id318 Submit a 3 -page case write-up that addresses the following: Summarize the assumptions of attachment theory in 2 to 3 sentences. Identify the problem in your chosen case study to be worked on from an attachment theory perspective. Explain how attachment theory defines and explains the cause of the problem in one to two sentences. Develop two assessment questions that are guided by attachment theory that you would ask the client to understand how the stress or distress is affecting the client. Discuss two interventions to address the problem. Remember, the theory should be driving the interventions. In other words, you would not identify systematic desensitization since this is not an intervention guided by attachment theory. Formulate one self-reflective question that is influenced by attachment theory that you can ask yourself to gain greater empathy for what the client is experiencing. Explain which outcomes you could measure to evaluate client progress based theory. Be sure to: Identify and correctly reference the case study you have chosen. Use literature to support your claims. Use APA formatting and style. Remember to double-space your paper. For more information on Conceptualization read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conceptualization_(information_science)
