The incorporation of a model wheAssignment: Making practice changesn making practice changes is very important for several reasons. Dearholt and Dang (2012, p. 33) indicate that using an appropriate model can help ensure projects better align with the organization where they are being implemented. Selecting an appropriate model to use is an important step in the process. Buckwalter et al. (2017, p. 181) discuss that the Iowa Model may be especially useful for healthcare providers trying to make evidence-based practice changes because it can help users to identify current research and focus on the results from a patient perspective. Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt (2015, p. 278) explain that the use of models can help clarify and guide changes throughout the process which should ultimately lead to better patient care.
Effort and Benefit
The use of a change model requires both time and effort. However, the risks of not using a change model are significant and could potentially lead to a less than optimal result. Helping to ensure the success of a project that will benefit health outcomes for patients is worth the effort. Dearholt and Dang (2012, p. 60) explain, that questions being addressed by EBP projects are important and the use of a model can help ensure that the time and energy are not wasted.
Conclusion
Careful selection of a change model is an important step when undertaking EBP projects. As nurses, we have a responsibility to work toward improving patient outcomes as well as working to further nursing research. The use of change models can help accomplish both goals and therefore is vital to the process.

Assignment 2: Case Study Development and Theoretical Explanation
In today’s world, stress is inescapable. Stress can be a major factor in physical and psychological illnesses. Stress is closely related to fear, panic, and anxiety. A number of relatively common psychological disturbances share symptoms that include anxiety as a central component. The somatoform disorders involve a preoccupation with the body or a medical illness. The dissociative disorders involve an alteration in consciousness or memory such as amnesia or, in an extreme case, the development of multiple personalities as in dissociative identity disorder.
Woody’s case
Woody, a 42-year-old married account, complains of dizziness, sweaty palms, stomachaches, and shortness of breath. He has been experiencing these symptoms for more than two years with few periods of extended relief. He also experiences dryness in the mouth, periods of extreme muscle tension, and a constant frustration, he denies feeling depressed and continues to enjoy hobbies and family activities.
Because of the symptoms, Woody has seen his primary care physician, a chiropractor in several other specialists, but has received contracting diagnoses and treatment, nine of which have helped.
Woody constantly worries about the health of his wife, parents, and children he thinks about accidents that could happen and tries to plan to avoid them. Woody’s wife was diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago she received treatment and has been cancer free for over one year. Woody also worries about his performance at work feeling that he could be fired at any time; those works reviews do not indicate any problems.
Guidelines for Developing a Case
Review the case studies provided in this course for descriptions of mental illness. Then use the following guidelines to develop your fictitious case. Your case should not name the diagnosis, but should describe the symptoms that are present for the individual in the case.
A case may include some or all of the following elements in varying degrees:
Presenting problem: Why is the person presenting for treatment? How severe is the problem? How does this issue interfere with the person’s family, work, friendships, leisure activities, and relationships? What has the person done to try to solve the problem and with what success?
History of problem: How long have these issues been experienced? Have there been times when the
Problem was absent? When did the problem first occur?
Prior treatment history: Has this issue ever been treated before? If so, how and when? Have any
psychotropic medications been prescribed?
Medical history: Does the person have any physical illnesses or disabilities? Has the person ever been
hospitalized for medical illness or has the person been operated upon? Does the person take any
medications for medical issues?
Family history: Whom does the person live with? Is the family intact? How many siblings are there? Are there any step-siblings or half-siblings? Are there relatives who have been diagnosed or treated for
mental illness or substance abuse? Do any family members have any significant medical disease or
illness?
Developmental history: Was the prenatal and childhood development normal? Were there any remarkable issues to note?
Educational history: How far has the person gone in school? Did the person experience any academic or behavioral problems during school?
Work history: Does the person have a career? How stable is the work history? Has the person
experienced problems with coworkers or supervisors?
Legal history: Has the person ever been arrested or served time in prison? If so, what were the charges?
Sexual relationship history: Is the person sexually active? Has the person ever experienced domestic
violence? Has there been a divorce? What is the identified sexual orientation?
The case description must include all of the DSM criteria necessary to diagnose that disorder, but may also include additional symptoms not found within that diagnostic category. Include some demographic background of the fictional case subject. This portion of the assignment should be 1 to 1 ½ pages.
Mental health professionals are often trained in one or more theoretical orientations. Each theoretical orientation provides a specific insight into why a person acts the way he or she does. The theoretical orientation also guides the professional’s choice of treatment options to address the symptoms presented by the individual to be treated. Several theoretical explanations of abnormal behavior have been described in your readings for this module. Some of these are biological, psychodynamic, behavioral, existential, cognitive, and sociocultural.
Identify the treatment approach for your case based upon the theory you have chosen to explain the disorder. Then in 2-3 pages, write your own theoretical analysis of case characteristics in relation to the disorder the case represents.
Write the case and theoretical analysis in a 3–4-page paper in Word format. Be sure to include an APA style title page and to cite the online course and the text applying APA standards. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M2_A2.doc. Use appropriate extensions for any other formats you use.
By Wednesday, February 27, 2013, deliver your assignment to the M2: Assignment 2 Dropbox.

Complete the following steps:
Compose a research project based on the data and analyses of SPSS data file ResearchReportData.sav. Use the Arm Span project available in Blackboard as a guide with regard to appearance and overall structure.
The project should address the following research questions:
Question #1: Is there a significant relationship between age and handwashing time? (The statistical test required to answer this question is part of the SPSS 4 assignment).
Question #2: Do males and females handwashing times differ significantly?
(The statistical test required to answer this question is presented in the Week 5 SPSS assignment. (Apply the test to the ResearchReportData.sav). Remember to provide justification for your decision to use either a parametric or non-parametric test. (hint: normality tests – Week 3 SPSS assignment).
For references – all that is required is at least two references supporting the fact that handwashing times are important. They should be easy to find and intergrated into the Introduction.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Remember the following:
Each research question requires a correctly stated null and alternative hypothesis.
Any table, picture, or figure presented in the results must be discussed in the Discussion section.
Tables should be reformatted to AMA specs.
This report need not be long. A simple straightforward narrative is all that is required. Only provide tables and figures that address the research question and other statistical considerations (i.e. distribution normality).
Pay particular attention to the proper labeling, captioning, and formatting of tables and figures. The format of SPSS tabular output will need to be modified once the tables have been transferred to the Word document.
The Research Project paper must include:
Cover Page:
Title, author, contact information, and affiliations. Submit as part of the Introduction assignment.
Abstract:
The abstract must briefly describe the research, summarize the results, and state the relevant findings. Submit as part of the final submission.
Introduction:
Introduce the research problem and provide background information on the research problem. The introduction does not need to be lengthy. Include at least two relevant references. Be sure to include the cover page.
Methods:
Describe the methods used for analysis and why they were used.
Use convenience sampling as the sampling method.
Remember to use past tense-the report is written as if the study has already been conducted.
Be sure to include any tests for normality and other assumptions if indicated.
Also include the null and alternative hypotheses to be tested.
The methods section should be written in such a way that a reasonably knowledgeable reader could replicate the study by following the methods as written.
Results:
In this section, present your results. Keep in mind that any table or figure presented in the results must be discussed in the discussion section. Therefore, it is best to only present information directly relating to describing the sample and addressing the research question and hypotheses, data normality, outliers, etc.
Each table and figure must be correctly labeled and captioned, and there must also be a brief sentence or two describing what is contained in the figure or table. However, do not provide interpretation in the results section, as that is done in the discussion section.
Discussion and Final Submission:
In this section, discuss and interpret results presented in the results section, implications, study limitations, and recommendations for practice and research. Be sure to include the abstract.
The maximum total world count is 2,500 words (not including the cover page, abstract, tables, or references). There is no minimum word requirement. However, there needs to be enough information for the project to be complete, cogent, and understandable.
Each assignment pertaining to the research project is graded separately and feedback provided when needed.
The final submission rubric is more heavily weighted toward the discussion and abstract, as they are not previously included in any of the assignments.
Submit your Introduction section by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 5.
Submit your Methods section by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 6.
Submit your Results section by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 7.
Submit your Final Submission by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Friday of Module/Week 8.
