Assessment Description
Alma Faulkenberger is an 85-year-old female outpatient sitting in the waiting room awaiting an invasive pelvic procedure. The health care professional who will assist in her procedure enters the room and calls “Alma.” There is no reply so the professional retreats to the work area. Fifteen minutes later the professional returns and calls “Alma Frankenberg.” Still no reply, so he leaves again. Another 15 minutes pass and the professional approaches Alma and shouts in her ear, “Are you Alma Frankenberg?” She replies, “No I am not, and I am not deaf either, and when you get my name correct I will answer you.”
Using the Topic 1 Resources, develop a plan to help Alma be compliant with the procedure and post-treatment medication. Also, describe the approach you would take to patient education in this case.

Solution
Research one or two specific ways artificial intelligence could be used to improve health care.
Several industries have been transformed by the use of artificial intelligence in their day-to-day operation, and the healthcare industry is also likely to gain similar benefits by adopting the use of artificial intelligence on a large scale. While AI has been incorporated in the healthcare industry, although to a minimal extent, there still exist several ways that it can be used to improve healthcare services. Artificial intelligence can be incorporated in precision medicine and in disease diagnosis to improve healthcare even more. This paper will focus on two ways that AI can be used in healthcare to improve the quality of healthcare outcomes.
Precision medicine focuses on developing interventions for individual patients or a group of patients based on their disease characteristics and response to the treatments. Precision medicine aims to utilize individual biology rather than population biology, which has been used at all stages of medical care. This requires advanced technology to collect, analyze and develop the treatments for the patients. Precision medicine considers the genetics of the individual patients and other factors that are likely to affect the treatment, including gender, race, family history, age, metabolic and immune profile, environmental vulnerability, and microbiome. Artificial intelligence can be used to collect genetic and physiologic information about the patients, analyze the data and develop tailored treatments based on the information leading to improved healthcare outcomes (Bohr & Mamarzadeh, 2020).
Artificial intelligence can also be used in disease diagnosis and prediction, especially for cardiovascular diseases, cancers, and nervous system diseases. Correctly diagnosing diseases is a skill that requires long periods to develop, and in many fields such as cardiology, the demand for such experts exceeds the supply. Cardiovascular diseases, cancers, and nervous system diseases are significant conditions that affect a significant section of the population globally, and they are also associated with high medical expenses, which affects families of such patients. Early diagnosis of such diseases and an accurate prediction of their occurrences would provide significant benefits to the patients and lead to improved healthcare outcomes. Artificial intelligence can be used to predict the occurrence of such diseases and diagnose them early enough before they occur. This will assist in putting in place the necessary prevention strategies and treatment protocols to prevent the conditions from developing to advanced stages, which are not easily treated. AI can be used to interpret CT, and MRI scans for various body parts such as the lungs, heart, and brain to determine the possibility of diseases and make the correct diagnosis faster than human doctors would (Datta et al., 2020).
What considerations must be taken into account before implementing such a system?
For AI to be implemented successfully in disease prediction and diagnosis and precision medicine, several considerations must be taken into account. Some of these considerations include the cost of adopting the AI technology and maintaining the technology in healthcare; the cost of implementing and running the AI might be higher than the benefits gained; in such circumstances, it would not be necessary to adopt such technologies. Medical staff skills required to run the technology, AI might require specialized computer skills to run, and thus the staff should develop such skills, or people with such skills should be hired to run the machines. Patient and staff attitudes towards AI in the treatment process can also influence whether it succeeds or fails. Availability of other resources, AI will require supportive resources such as external data storage centers for the smooth running of the technology, and thus the availability of such resources should be considered (Borycki & Kushniruk, 2021).

Strengths and Challenges Related to Nursing Practice Competencies
Nursing competencies refer to the ability of nurses to take appropriate action in their nursing practices through the utilization of knowledge, skills, beliefs, and past experiences. This allows them to effectively perform their role and collaborate with other parties in an organization. Advanced practice nurses need to have a comprehensive understanding of the strengths and challenges to perform their roles successfully.
Through the course, students learn how Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) perform their duties in making decisions and taking care of adult populations. The course should also help students diagnose and manage primary healthcare patients and identify problems among the adults and elderly population. Through the course, we will acquire more knowledge regarding physical and behavioral diseases in the primary diagnosis process (Farrell, Payne, & Heye, 2015). Therefore students can plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based approaches that promote health in primary care patients. I also expect to acquire the skills and confidence required in a clinical setup by the end of the course. Hence I can comprehend how to plan, evaluate and execute therapeutic systems for adult patients with chronic or acute illnesses.
Particular competencies are essential in (AGPCNP). An AGPCNP is a nurse who specializes in promoting and sustaining health, particularly among culturally; diverse and high-risk populations. These nurses can examine and manage health conditions across different age populations, from adolescents to older adults suffering from acute and several chronic illnesses. As an AGPCNP student, competencies to acquire include assessing and intervening in situations, effective communications, critical thinking, and patient caring and relations helps them perform their duties effectively (Hwang 2015). The required to fulfill competencies include monitoring, therapeutic approaches, reporting, and computing skills. Their extensive research skills significantly contribute to critical thinking. Lastly, having the proper ethical values and patient advocacy ensures that nurses relate well with their patients.
There are several strengths attributed to the nursing competencies of AGPCNP. The first is relationship management, where through their communication and relationship competencies, they can deliver disturbing news that will not affect the health issues of a patient (Fukada 2018). This is incredibly impactful with the elderly population. Other skills that strengthen their competencies include teamwork and collaboration, knowledge of evidence-based practices, health, quality improvement, and safety (Want, Goodman, and Selway, 2021). The practitioners’ challenges are increased workload since more patients are being diagnosed with multiple chronic conditions among adolescents, adults, and older adults.
An Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) is intensely committed to managing their patients’ health and community. My career goal is striving to prevent illnesses by educating communities and patients on healthy lifestyle habits. I will also provide education and sufficient knowledge to the patients on healthcare choices to avoid diabetes and, obesity among others. I firmly find passion in providing primary care to patients because they also get to self-manage themselves regarding their health. I also strongly advocate for collaboration among community members to promote a healthier society. The course will help me acquire the skills necessary to examine patients, diagnose, and treat, among others necessary for promoting a patient’s health. I will also develop skills to train patients on how to self-manage themselves, develop healthy lifestyles to enhance health and prevent illnesses. These skills will help me perform my duties effectively and collaborate with nurses, doctors, patients, and other practitioners.

Solution
In your role as a public health nurse, what features or strategies would you implement when evaluating an intervention?
Intervention evaluation aims at determining whether progress is being made towards the intended goals, desired outcomes are achieved, justify the needs for continued support or even compare its performance to others. Some of the strategies that can be implemented to evaluate public health interventions include engaging stakeholders. Stakeholders include parties interested in the interventions; they can include participants/beneficiaries of the intervention, organizations, or other influential individuals (CDC, n.d) Their inclusion and support during evaluation are important to ensure cooperation and provision of the necessary resources. Without their support, the evaluation process can be ignored resisted, and in extreme instances, it can be sabotaged, leading to its failure. Another strategy would be to comprehensively describe the program linking all of its components and the intended outcomes for each component. Developing a comprehensive description gives a better understanding of the measurements that one should focus on during the evaluation process and increases the likelihood that an evaluation process will be successful. Another strategy would be to develop an evaluation team; intervention evaluation requires diverse skills for successful completion, which are rarely found in a single individual. Therefore, it would be important to include other specialists with different skills and abilities to ensure that the evaluation process is a success (Walden University, 2022). It would also be important to select a suitable evaluation design model; several designs can be used to evaluate public health interventions. However, they are not all suitable for any situation. Therefore, as a public health nurse evaluating an intervention, it is important to identify and select the most appropriate evaluation design to ensure that the results achieved are appropriate and usable (Clarke et al., 2019).

Community engagement
Community engagement is proficient in improving quality care and maintaining the health and wellbeing of the population. It entails the process of working with the community members, who share the same interests in managing the health problem that is affecting them and looking forward to a positive outcome (Rowe et al.,2019). Health workers can work with the groups within the community by involving them from the planning stage to the implementation stage for active participation because they influence the project positively. This study discusses the meaning of community engagement and its importance in conducting community health needs assessments.
Importance in conducting community health needs assessment.
Community engagement is a central key section in the process of conducting community health needs assessment. Through engagement, health organizations can understand the community’s state of health based on how much the community participates. This involvement also strengthens the relationship bond between the community and the health organizations, thus making it easier to identify the community health needs and the risks associated within the community and increasing collaboration, especially on the most prioritized issues.
The main attribute is the healthy bond it creates, enabling the community to take charge of their health, especially on health issues that require preventive care, thus only seeking healthcare at the hospitals when only necessary or in a critical condition. An efficient health needs assessment can only be conducted through community engagement, as the intervention is directly related. (Den Broeder et al.,2017). They need to participate actively to continue caring for their health and wellbeing hence reducing unnecessary financial expenses on hospital visits.
Conclusion
Community engagement is necessary for improving the health and wellbeing of the community. Their participation is needed to strengthen both external and internal links between the community and the healthcare organization for the sustainability of healthcare programs among the population. If the community interests are not considered, the community healthcare needs assessment might not be so influential in promoting quality care and wellbeing of the people because the community is clueless about what is being done. This can lead to low productivity in the wellbeing of the population and poor healthcare outcomes.

Problem Statement
One of the most significant public health challenges in the US currently is the opioid epidemic. The opioid epidemic has therefore resulted from an increase in the misuse of opioid prescription pain relievers, fentanyl, and heroin. The rising cases of opioid abuse across the US have therefore contributed significantly to an increase in injection drug use. As more people have begun utilizing injection as a method of abusing drugs, the prevalence of various infectious diseases has increased, including hepatitis and HIV (NIDA, 2021). The increasing rates of injection use in the US have significantly undermined the progress made in HIV and hepatitis prevention. The most effective approach that can be adopted to prevent the increasing prevalence of HIV and hepatitis infections would be for all the opioid users who inject drugs to stop their practices. However, this is not possible because most users who inject themselves are addicted and are unable or unwilling to stop abusing such drugs (NIDA, 2021). Different approaches have therefore been suggested to ensure the safety of injection drug users who mainly abuse opioids such as heroin. Some of the approaches that have been adopted to prevent adverse outcomes in opioid drug users include the implementation of needle exchange programs and the provision of Narcan to help prevent opioid overdose deaths. This paper will therefore present an argument on whether public money should continue to fund Narcan and needle exchange programs or whether such allocations should be abolished.
Literature Review
According to Davis et al. (2018), the only way that individuals who inject drugs, including opioids, can avoid negative health consequences is to stop injecting. However, opioids are quite addictive, which makes it difficult for drug users to stop injecting drugs while some are unwilling to stop the practice. By 2020 nearly 100,000 Americans reported injured in drugs in the past year. This number represents at least 1.5% of high school students who inject drugs (NIDA, 2021). According to Des Jarlais (2017), needle exchange programs and the provision of Narcan can play a significant role in preventing negative health consequences among individuals who inject drugs. Needle exchange programs provide important services to injection drug users that help to prevent negative health consequences. Needle exchange programs provide services such as disposal of sterile syringes, testing and vaccination, access to syringes, and linking drug abusers to substance abuse treatment and infectious disease care. According to John 2006 needle exchange programs also play a significant role in targeting marginalized populations where there is a disproportionate prevalence of injection drug use (Varkey, 2020). According to Fernandes et al. (2017), scholarly research has therefore indicated that needle exchange programs do not contribute to illegal drug use or crime. Scholarly studies have also indicated that needle exchange programs are effective safe and help to save on costs by contributing to a reduction of transmission of HIV viral hepatitis and other infections. According to Davis et al. (2018), opioid drug users who visit needle exchange programs are five times more likely to enroll in drug treatment, while there are more than three times as likely to stop abusing drugs compared to those who do not utilize such programs. According to Fernandes et al. (2017), needle exchange programs also provide Narcan to opioid drug users, which helps in decreasing opioid overdose deaths. According to Varkey (2020), the restrictions that have been implemented on the founding of Narcan and needle exchange programs should be lifted to allow such programs to continue because of their numerous benefits.

Nursing EBP

March 21, 2010, was not EBP’s date of birth, but it may be the date the approach “grew up” and left home to take on the world.
When the Affordable Care Act was passed, it came with a requirement of empirical evidence. Research on EBP increased significantly. Application of EBP spread to allied health professions, education, healthcare technology, and more. Health organizations began to adopt and promote EBP.
In this Discussion, you will consider this adoption. You will examine healthcare organization websites and analyze to what extent these organizations use EBP.
To Prepare:
Review the Resources and reflect on the definition and goal of EBP.
Choose a professional healthcare organization’s website (e.g., a reimbursing body, an accredited body, or a national initiative).
Explore the website to determine where and to what extent EBP is evident.
By Day 3 of Week 1
Post a description of the healthcare organization website you reviewed. Describe where, if at all, EBP appears (e.g., the mission, vision, philosophy, and/or goals of the healthcare organization, or in other locations on the website). Then, explain whether this healthcare organization’s work is grounded in EBP and why or why not. Finally, explain whether the information you discovered on the healthcare organization’s website has changed your perception of the healthcare organization. Be specific and provide examples.

Nursing EBP
In the field of healthcare, evidence-based practice (EBP) refers to an approach that is always changing and incorporates relevant research, professional expertise, and patient or family needs. Improved patient health outcomes are the primary objective of evidence-based practice (EBP) (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2019). This week’s discussion topic needs us to analyze the website of a healthcare organization and determine whether or not EBP is being used in the organization’s operations. The organization I opted to focus on is the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
People with diabetes account for 34.2 million Individuals in the USA, as per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2020). Because several people in the United States are affected by diabetes, ongoing research is being conducted to assist those suffering from it. The American Diabetes Association’s website demonstrates the organization’s dedication to research, financing, and evidence-based practices (EBP) that have been shown to be helpful in diabetes control. The American Diabetes Association’s goal includes providing financial support for diabetes studies and diabetes care via the ADA Research Institute. In order to guarantee that the most promising diabetic research gets financial assistance, the organization grants funds to scientists who present their results via a peer-review approach (American Diabetes Association, n.d).
My impression of the American Diabetes Association has not changed as a result of my reading of the institution’s website. When it comes to diabetes care, the American Diabetes Association is a dependable resource in healthcare. I now have greater respect for the effort and devotion of the association in the pursuit of a breakthrough diabetes cure.

PHN 652 Topic 6 DQ 2
One of the most prevalent public health challenges facing the US in contemporary times is the childhood obesity epidemic. The childhood obesity epidemic affects different segments of society. The childhood obesity epidemic has also attracted the interest of governments and non-governmental institutions that have sought to address the public health problem (Lambrinou et al., 2020). The control of childhood obesity is a complex process because many risk behaviors will be involved in the onset of childhood obesity. Multiple environments will also affect the onset of childhood obesity, while multiple intervention strategies might also be required. Various interventions have already been adopted to help reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity in the US, with most of such strategies involving treating obesity after onset. One of the main interventions that have been adopted to treat obesity after onset has been interventions promoting more physical activities in schools and a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables. Most communities across the US, including school districts, have therefore adopted interventions to promote more physical activities in schools in a bid to help overweight children to lose weight (Curry et al., 2018). Several communities in the US have also adopted interventions to promote the consumption of a healthy diet, including fruits and vegetables, to prevent childhood obesity (Curry et al., 2018).
However, despite the interventions that have already been adopted to reduce childhood obesity, such as the promotion of physical exercises and promotion of a healthy diet, better interventions can help to enhance the outcomes of the target population. A uniform ban on the advertising of unhealthy food products such as fast foods and soft drinks to children and the general population can therefore help significantly to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity in the US.
